Tea tree oil
I just bought some tea tree oil for my yeast infection under the breast. I applied it with a wet cotton ball (as per bottles instruction) and it is burning and itchy.......exactly my symptoms with the yeast infection. Is it supposed to do this? One of the side effects online was itchiness...........oh great..........if it kills the yeast I will put up with it. I'm looking for feedback on this stuff............
TIA |

The bottle said to put a few drops on a wet cotton ball which I did. I'm honestly getting desperate.........I was using alcohol on it and it helped but I heard it won't kill it. Just keep it at bay.

I've used straight tea tree oil on athlete's foot before and it is pretty strong. I can imagine that on already open skin that it would be irritating. It usually has a "menthol" kind of feeling to it - so that is normal. It is also kind of stinky - like eucalyptus or menthol.
I will say that nothing works better on a fungal infection like athlete's foot than straight tea tree oil....NOTHING! So, I have no idea if this is what you are dealing with but it is really, really good on that. If it is really bothering you - you can probably dilute it with some water or even put on some hydrocortisone creme also. It is amazing stuff.

Mackenzie, I have that under-the-breast rash every now & then & I always use straight-from-the bottle tea tree oil... yeah, it burns, but it really works... I apply a little coconut oil on top of the tea tree oil (after I let it work alone for a few minutes) & that cools the burning & covers up the smell a little... I do this twice a day... the rash is usually gone in a couple of days, but I keep applying the oils for another 2 or 3 days, just to make sure...
I hope it works well for you... ![]() |

I always wonder if the sweating has anything to do with it, since I have it most often in the summer... I've been told it's actually the candida "breaking out" through the skin, so eliminating it internally should stop the rashes... I had a terrible rash in both armpits a few years ago... that was when I learned to use the tea tree oil & coconut oil... I also started taking olive leaf extract in capsules... so far, the underarm rash hasn't returned, but since I still have the underbreast rash every now & then, I don't think I've gotten rid of the candida altogether... I'm thinking of starting probiotics... do you take them?..

Actually, I have to watch my $$, so I buy the cheap LouAna Coconut Oil that I find in the baking department at WallyWorld... I can't really comment on how much better the organic stuff from the health food store might be...

Tea-tree as a pure essential oil is really too strong to use on skin - it can actually cause serious chemical burns. I don't know if what you are using is pure essential oil but they are pretty expensive - I use a 5% dilution and that is about $6 for 100ml and even that will give you a good solid sting on raw flesh. I would not go onto a higher concentrate of essential oil as I have seen the burns it has left on people. It is GREAT stuff but must be diluted.
You can either make or look for a tea tree ointment - that would be at an appropriate strength for topical application and they don't sting half so much. Diluting with other oils will take the burn out of it if you do find you are sizzling too much.

I felt like bugs were crawling under my breasts and in the groin...........ugghh. How the heck do we avoid getting this? I was tested for diabetes and I don't have it but I do have a lot of auto-immune diseases which can be a factor I'm told. Anyway, thanks for checking on me.......it means a lot! |

Also, if you start taking coconut oil (CO) by mouth, it's worth investing in the good stuff. Most of us use the Netiva we got on Netrition.com and it is great! I even tried another organic CO brand in the local grocery when I ran out of the Netiva and it was no where as good. You know you have a good product when it has a very good coconut flavor. I've been treating the rash under my daughter's arm with a mix of CO and TTO and it has really been helping. The TTO is VERY strong so a little goes a long way; use it diluted in the CO. Hope this helps! ![]() |

Thanks for the information. The diflucan did clear up the rash and now I am just using Lotrimin powder spray. It kills all major types of fungus. The druggist recommended it and it is so much easier to apply. I spray under the breasts after showering and it is all cleared up!
