Give up cheese FOREVER??
I realize that on my anti-candida journey I'm going to have to give up dairy products, and maybe add them in after getting the yeast under control. My biggest obstacle is that I LOVE cheese!!
![]() And it's about the easiest thing to eat when I'm in a hurry, just out the door to work or just too tired to cook. Before I get too far in this, how long (please don't say forever) will I have to eschew cheese? I would rather chew cheese. Love it. |

I wouldn't say forever. I would say a few months, then try it and see how your body does. If you can handle a little, try a little more. Then just keep adding a little more to find out how much you can eat. Everyone is different. And if you do slip up and eat some now and then don't be too hard on yourself.
I look it as this isn't something I have to do, it's something I choose to do. So if I "cheat" it's not horrible, I just get right back on track. (I just cheated for a whole week. Starting fresh today.)

Honestly, I lost my taste for cheese once I got rid of the yeast problems....things sorta just fell in place for me. I still have a little but nothing like I used to crave and I don't even crave it anymore.

What kind of cheese do you miss most?? If you say Swiss, Cheddar, Blue - etc, then I think you should avoid those for as long as possible. Fresh cheeses like mozzarella *usually* don't cause as many problems as the more aged ones.

Once I gave up cheese, I no longer craved it. before I was counting down the hours until my next meal so I could eat some gooey cheese (and planning my meals so I could eat cheese). Now, I eat at most 2oz a day (many days none, a few days more) and it;s enough. I think it might be that whole "you crave/can't imagine giving up the food that you are allergic to/is bad for you".
I think once you deal with your yeast problems you can see how different cheeses impact you- how many oz you can eat of each, etc. And, you might not even be craving it anymore. I would say a solid month of eating super cleanly with no slip-ups and you might already have results. |

I agree with this completely!!! I loved vinegar (odd I know) - give me salt n' vinegar chips, pepperocinis brined in vinegar, pickles, olives, etc. Once I went yeast free I added it back not thinking anything of it, and my mid-section swole up like a balloon! Not good. Even grains don't cause such a bad reaction for me!

Way too much time on my hands!

Huh, this is kind of funny but I'm feeling better not taking my usual ACV shots in the morning and evening. I have cut back on the cheese this week. I had a bit of feta cheese today and earlier in the week had some Greek FF yogurt with blueberries. My belly seems less bloated and I wound up losing a pound.

yeah I cant do acv either. It makes me feel sick, I get a worse reaction than I get from too much white vinegar. acv isnt for everyone, even the good one with the mother.

I have to give up PICKLES too?!?!?!?!![]() Seriously, I crave better health and a much better figure more than cheese (and pickles ) but not by much. It absolutely makes sense that maybe the cravings will stop once I get rid of the yeast. One month? I can do that! Two months? Maybe, especially if the cravings die down. Thanks for giving me some hope!My favorites: CHEDDAR, the sharper the better. MMMMM.... Fried cheese...Also blue cheese, those mini-babybels, mozzarella, swiss, muenster. I'm planning on replacing my "breakfast-as-I'm-running-to-work" with boiled eggs. They are just not as easy to eat in the car. Plus, I dislike eggs. If I eat them every day, I really start hating them. Any other suggestions? I was thinking about keeping grilled meats handy, but they don't keep as long. I'm starting oil of oregano today, I figure I should cut out the dairy by middle or end of next week.
