This is a journal to help me learn LC tactics and to record LC success as 2007 draws to an end and 2008 looms large and hopeful ahead of me.

Wish me luck! Luck?

Ah, luck is the residue of design.

Found that in a fortune cookie, ages ago.

Fits into the LC mantra about how failing to plan is planning to fail. So my plans start out each day with a hot slosh of WPP+cocoa+espresso+VCO so that I start off feeling like a LC success. Yay, me!

Ethical eating ~ moderately meaty meals

The older I get, the more difficult it is to eat food that brings to mind faces of creatures I've gotten to know (slightly) as friendly cows and pigs who suffer in feedlots and slaughterhouses. Faceless flesh like ground beef and pork is less difficult - but even that sometimes makes me pause.

Faceless creatures like fish and fowl are easier to chow down on, seem to digest more easily. ALGittleman warns that chicken offers a digestive challenge to Type B bloodtypes, so I dodge chicken in favor of turkey and other fowl.

Radio this morning announced that 2008 is a...

So far, so good...

Posted 01-02-2008 at 09:22 AM by Zer
2008 is progressing well, far as I can tell. Jan.2 is a chilly morn in SoCal, so I'm writing with a tummyful of hot slosh (WPP+espresso+cocoa) as I await arrival of VCO (due here 1/3) to stoke my furnace, fuel up cells that I plan to deplete of fat.

Yes, my plans for 2008 are to become a slack skin bag full of depleted fat cells sucking up fluid to hold space for new fat - until my fat cells give it up, deflate, offer up their shape-holding fluid to The Whoosh Fairy™ as my faithful chugging of water attracts said delightful creature.

That's my plan for 2008. LC....

Fiber

Nothing like a hot dish of grits or oatmeal on a crisp winter morn - which is what it feels like to me in SoCal. Grits? Got into eating grits when I was a college kid in Florida and a roommate told me what that white goop on her plate was as she buttered and peppered it and then mixed it in with her scrambled eggs. OMG, with enough butter and pepper, hominy corn grits is pure heaven!

Not LC.

A friend speaks highly of Mock Cream of Wheat, based on ricotta cheese and egg. I found a recipe online. Sounds do-able:
Quote:
1/4 cup whole milk ricotta cheese
1 egg

Weighing & measuring...

Good LC plans are based on facing facts, on doing basic weight/measurement. I'm struggling to get my true measurements into my Weight Loss JOURNAL as a companion tool to this BLOG in which I blather and seek support from LC friends.

Both are great tools. Tools are at hand for use.

Countdown for year's end is loud in my ears.

I have one more year-end task to complete: ME!

Full body measures at ~400#...set out plain. Wrist to ankle, neck to calf. All in B&W in my Weight Loss JOURNAL. I can ~DO~ this. I know I can. I shall. By...

Golden Years (for 50s and older)

Posted 12-28-2007 at 02:03 AM by Zer
I'm finding my way around, a bit, on this board and have started a thread of my own at http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/go...e-lc-mode.html where I am celebrating being a geezer who is learning how much healthier LC is.

Some of the best LC lists are those that are filled with folks who are celebrating improved health with fewer symptoms of diseases that turn out to respond well to fewer carbs. Amazing how some report a return to good health as their doctors admit they are so improved that meds can be cut back - and some are even pronounced...
