This is a journal to help me learn LC tactics and to record LC success as 2007 draws to an end and 2008 looms large and hopeful ahead of me.

Wish me luck! Luck?

Ah, luck is the residue of design.

Found that in a fortune cookie, ages ago.

Fits into the LC mantra about how failing to plan is planning to fail. So my plans start out each day with a hot slosh of WPP+cocoa+espresso+VCO so that I start off feeling like a LC success. Yay, me!

What if a life of stress has worn out my adrenals? http://thyroid.about.com/cs/endocrin...nalfatigue.htm suggests that this is a condition that is not often caught before a serious medical condition exists.

http://www.womentowomen.com/adrenalf...words=adrenals suggests ways in which adrenal fatigue can be repaired or reversed. Impaired adrenal function can exist and cloud an otherwise healthy life.

The effects of adrenal dysfunction can be profound: fatigue and weakness, suppression

Oil pulling? Ah, swishing through teeth/gums/tongue!

Posted 01-21-2008 at 11:56 AM by Zer
Found a thread that intrigued and puzzled me, so I had to dive in - finally - to see what in the world this "oil pulling" might be.

See for yourself, at http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ma...l-pulling.html what I am just now reading and figuring might be worth trying to whiten my teeth, pink up my gums, freshen my breath by removing particles that defy brushing.

At 64, I've lost enamel and my teeth are dingy and discourage me smiling. For years now I've avoided wearing white near my face, as the contrast with off-white teeth...

'Hungry' all the time? Some days are like that!

Posted 01-19-2008 at 02:13 PM by Zer
Hunger is a feeling that slim folks observe and do nothing about. I read that somewhere. I believe I have seen my slim friends sit with hunger and just observe it as a feeling. Feelings shift. I see how slim friends allow their 'hunger' to shift gears and become some other feeling, just as clouds shift and change form in a summer sky. These slim friends are not driven to eat to satisfy that 'hunger' that arises in all of us as a feeling, an urge, as we are subjected to ads and other wiley incentives to ingest food beyond our body's basic nutritional needs.

When I find myself...

Portion control ~ The final LC frontier!

Posted 01-19-2008 at 01:57 PM by Zer
On my best LC days, I have to admit that I still overeat, am still trying to use food to fill some of the empty areas of my life. This must be the final frontier in a LC program. We get ourselves organized around good LC food, then realize we are double-dipping and taking 2d helpings that we can live without. I sure do.

Let's bring out those measuring cups from WW days, if that's what it takes!

I make a fist, sometimes, to remind myself what my tummy can digest well. More than that creates a crowded digestive system, without space to do the work that my stomach is...

LC Assets/Liabilities

Posted 01-19-2008 at 12:48 PM by Zer
Watching an infomercial one day, it dawned on me that a LC life might be viewed according to its ASSETS (habits that profit us even when one is not doing much) and LIABILITIES (that drain or steal assets), just as the concept of assets and liabilities is laid out plain by Richard Kiyosaki in a financial reprogramming book/course: Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Radical notion, first time it hit me!

Yes, when I'm on track, all the world is full of LC insights, glimpses (of what might be) and thrilling epiphanies. Some days are full of great LC visions and awareness of possibilities that form...
