This is a journal to help me learn LC tactics and to record LC success as 2007 draws to an end and 2008 looms large and hopeful ahead of me.

Wish me luck! Luck?

Ah, luck is the residue of design.

Found that in a fortune cookie, ages ago.

Fits into the LC mantra about how failing to plan is planning to fail. So my plans start out each day with a hot slosh of WPP+cocoa+espresso+VCO so that I start off feeling like a LC success. Yay, me!

With scales to weigh me in (432.4# on 2/8/08), I figure it's time to start working FitDay to find out true values of what I'm eating on my LC plan.

Looks as if my hot slosh is 500calories a slurp:
...2scoops (60g) of ALG's vanilla WPP
...1 Tbs (each) espresso & cacao
...2 Tbs VCO
Total: 498 calories, with F/C/P=32/17/41grams

Protein goal: 148g daily (400# x .037 = 148g)

Inactive as I am, I shall have to pay attention to calories as well as to curbing carbs, to lose the weight that I aim to lose. Toting up my hot slosh is just the beginning. More items will be figured as I wade further into FitDay.

Hid out all wknd, from food and from temptation and from life ...and in hopes of fooling my scale into a WHOOOSH to 399#.

I too slid back into shortchanging myself in hopes I could WISH a WHOOSH on the scale and see 399# - but all the scale does is go UP when I stop eating all the calories that my body needs.

WHEN WILL I LEARN? Maybe today, huh?

I'm full up with 45g of protein (toward my target of 182g daily) and 862cals of WPP+cacao+espresso+4TbsVCO (toward my BMR:2423cals daily) and just did a refill of a 32oz water bottle (toward my target of 128oz daily) - and I am going to DO THIS RIGHT... JUST FOR TODAY ...AS IF I CARE ABOUT MY HEALTH. I am! Just to be sure, I just tossed my hot slosh into FitDay:

404.6# (again, as on 5/7) is 4.2# down from 5/1's 408.6#, so I'm not complaining - not exactly - just wishful. Yes, I know: IF WISHES WERE HORSES, BEGGARS WOULD RIDE. (sigh-h-h)

Today I'm recommitted to my target BMR:2423cals and to my target 182g of protein and target 128oz of water. I can DO it! It's not brain surgery! It's just EATING! I can do it!

Just 5pm and I'm setting out the food I've prepared for the rest of today. Started fixing at 3pm. Am not hungry, but I'm going to do my level best to consume this. A bit over the top - mayo, again! - but I think I am going to work on eating most of this starting as soon as I get this posted:

Not sure I can wrap myself around all of this, but I'll try. Cottage cheese may get dumped, as it showed a pink tinge and I dumped some already. New container, dated 7Jun2008, but not as fresh as I'd like.

But it's the mayo that is really throwing me off. Darn it!

Hot slosh at 11:30am today, with plans to finish off salmon and cottage cheese and HB eggs prepared yesterday as a midday lunch, probably with some lettuce/vegie crudités. So far, this is my progress toward eating to my BMR:2423cals:

Dear Zer,
Such a victory to use strawberries as a cheat. That is so much healthier for you than other carby things. I am glad to see you eat those fresh berries cause I worry that you don't get enough variety in your diet to meet your nutritional needs.
I hope you understand that I say this cause I have come to care so much about you and your struggles to be independent.
All the months I lived in carb hell, I would come back every day to read what you had written. You have made a tremendous impact on how I think.
Maybe that those delicious red berries will give you a visit from the whoosh fairy...
Love,
Jean:

Jean, thank you for your support - and for your wish that The Whoosh Fairy™ might visit. Awfully nice if my 6/8 weigh-in shows a significant loss. That is 4mos of owning a scale and having access to accurate data on my weight, a nice change from a lifetime habit of ignoring that data and dreading the occasional weigh-in when a scale was able to weigh me at the doctor's. Having a scale has helped me to KNOW for sure if my LC program needs a tweak or two. Now I can weigh at will, collect data, put that data into my food diary as well as into my datebook. No longer am I forgetful about my wish to weigh less.

Here's hoping Sunday 6/8 shows a nice loss, possibly a whoosh right into THREEdom. I'm so close, so very close - and it would be such a nice note on the benefits of my having gifted myself with a scale on my 64th b'day, just 4mos ago, in February! Yay for a great gift!

Broke into THREEdom on 6/30/08, leaving 400# behind for good. Not sure how many years or decades I've weighed more than 400#, but it's been a long time since I saw a lower weight than 400#. Lots of doctors I saw did not have scales to weigh me, so I just cannot say, but I do know that I weighed more than 400# for more than half of my 64yrs - and I was hired, interviewed, got new jobs and fell in love (for the first time, at 42) at a hefty weight. That said, I was pleased to see my scale showing me 395.8# on 6/30/08 - and it seems to be holding. Got that weight today too!

Here's today's tally of food eaten/planned, as I got my ducks in order and found my way back to FitDay to check up on my intake.

Got curious to see how my food for today is stacking up, so I tossed it into FitDay. Looks as if I have room for some VCO+cacao later today to get up to my BMR:2423cals!

I've been a bit short on food lately, although I am a believer in eating up to my BMR (no matter what). Health issues are slowing me down, as I spend time in bed, hoping my right knee will shape up and get strong enough to bear my weight as I favor a hinky left hip for 2yrs now. Got to get this weight off, fast. My body is not up to carrying the sort of weight that I've carried for more than half my life. Two years in bed now. That's a serious chunk of time for someone who hopes to make up for lost time once I get down to a fighting weight, a weight that will permit me to travel and to enjoy things that I never did when I was a workaholic.

Would love to see a double-patty cheeseburger coming my way later today - no bun, of course, and no sauce - but I don't see myself getting up and out to the car to drive to Carl's. Ah, wish Carl's delivered! I can almost taste that hot beef patty now. Not hungry, for I still have tuna seasoned with Mrs.Dash and one HB egg left to eat. That, and probably a VCO+cacao treat later on, flavored with DaVinci Creme de Menthe or Dulce de Leche. Not sure which one. Guess I'll make it to my BMR, one way or another. Hey, is this a diet or are we having FUN eating?

Thanks for the kind words and feedback on FINALLY finding my way to THREEdom, where I seem to be bOunCing around just under 400# as I bOunCed around just above 400# for so long.

Hitting more fish/egg days seems to be key to my success in shaving off ounces at a time. Slow and steady. *bounce*
