the transition

Posted 10-13-2009 at 06:13 AM by Tril
Having totally left the 6WC behind, I am now eating a "loose" form of Atkins with some of what I learned from 6WC.

General guidelines:

lots of water
moderate caffeine
limited cheese and dairy (just a tsp of cream in my coffee, cheese nibbles once a week)
mod protein intake (keeping the portion sizes smaller than before... 4 oz or so)
higher fat intake (adding fat to protein and veggies, added avocado)
vlc.. under 20ng a day from fresh multi colored veggies

So, we'll see. I'm currently maintaining a seven...

4 weeks later

Posted 10-10-2009 at 08:21 AM by Tril
Wt this morning: 131.5.

Had an upward blip after four days at camp. Didn't "deserve" the gain, but it happened anyway. The gain is gone and with it an extra half pound.

Need to move on and get back to general low carbing. Atkins? Maybe... maybe just my own version, borrowing some things from the Atkins plan. Not sure that I will ever be able to eat at maintenance levels for any of the low carb plans out there. I think, for me, the key to long term success is going to be life long carbohydrate restriction. I'm okay with that. I'm just grateful I found what...

Day 7

Posted 09-23-2009 at 11:03 AM by Tril
Wt this morning: 133.0. Same as yesterday.

Total lost so far... 6.5# Gotta keep reminding myself of that.

Exercise: LOTS of walking... 2.5 hours today alone. I figure it was between 7.5 and 8 miles.

Feeling much better. More energy. Better attitude and outlook on life. I feel "UP". It's nice. My leg muscle fatigue and general overall tiredness is gone. I'm not sleeping as much, either.

Day 4 of 6WC

Posted 09-20-2009 at 06:58 AM by Tril
Start Wt: 139.5
Wt this morning: 133.5

Loss: 6#

This is great! I'm not enjoying the shakes but since it's working, I can put up with it. I am REALLY looking forward to the 2nd phase. If this Cure gets me back solidly into the 120's then it will definitely be "MY CURE". It'll be nice to have this in my back pocket, too, for times when things rocket out of control... like holidays, etc.

The no-caffeine thing is getting easier. Still not 100% but improving. I haven't missed my wine at all. I think that's because the caffeine withdrawal...

Day 3

Posted 09-19-2009 at 09:52 AM by Tril
Woke up feeling much better. I didn't expect to... I thought maybe day 4 or day 5, but I'll take it! I've been sleeping a LOT more since starting 6WC. 9.5 hours the first night, a two hour nap yesterday and 9 hours last night. It's the "sleep of the dead", too. Very restful.

I weighed again this morning. I know, I know... but I like to and it doesn't bother me if the number stays the same or goes up. Fluctuations are normal and to be expected. I was pleasantly surprised to see that I lost another 1.5#... for a total of 5.5 in two days.

Starting weight:...
