Swimming

So my workout of choice has become swimming. It doesn't hurt my body, and I can go a lot longer than with any other workout.

I am swimming at my local YMCA. They have a 25 yard pool. I used to swim a lot, and my mom had medals from the jr olympics for swimming, so I am kindof a fish But it is depressing because I am so out of shape and I don't have the stamina for a long swim like I used to. So I am doing 500 yard swims (which is 10 laps in this 25 yard pool).

I think some people are confused about a lap and a legnth. A lap is all the way down and back, like a lap on a track is all the way around the track. It isn't a one way thing, it is a full circle. A LEGNTH is when you swim the legnth of the pool. If you are doing sprints, then you usually swim the legnth of the pool and stop. But for long swims, like the 500 yards I am doing, you are going 25 one way, then 25 back (for a lap of 50 yards total) and then you do it again.

I am also treading water at the end of my laps to add some more cardio in there with out stressing out my arms too much.
