Hoping Things Will Get Better...

I'm still feeling very depressed and have been since my birthday week (March 29). So many things have been happening and I've been eating out of control to deal with them. I think I've been turning to junk food as a way to pick up my mood, which I haven't really done much of in the past (although I've eaten junk food for plenty of other reasons...) This is a bit alarming to me. I recognize that so many things have triggered it - my declining work situation (although I knew that would happen, since I couldn't pick up any more online classes to teach because of going on vacation in May) - the anxiety...

Feeling so Depressed and Discouraged :(

Not with LC, though...

I've just finished 2 weeks straight of the McDougall Maximum Weight Loss Plan. For those who don't know it, it's the anti-thesis of low carbing - it's an ultra low fat vegan diet that is based on whole grains and veggies, limited fruit (2 servings a day), and absolutely no added fats at all. I was eating a ton of whole grain and lots of veggies and the fruit, no added fat at all (for the first time in my life, I think!) and drinking coffee black. I was following it pretty much to the letter (except for the coffee), craving chocolate, but otherwise feeling...

VLC Experiment, Day 3

I know I haven't posted in a few days but it's not because I haven't been on plan - it's because I've been insanely busy .

My plan is going well so far. I'm enjoying the LC plan again and I'll be very disappointed if I end up gaining weight!

I weighed and measured today for my start stats of this experiment. I started on Sun but I ate crappy stuff on Fri and Sat so I know that my stats would be bad on Sun (Yeah, I'm chicken )

Week 1 Stats:
Weight: 149
Bust: 40.5
Waist: 38.5
Hips: 41

I'm pretty happy...

More Motivation :)

I've been tweaking my menu a bit. I went shopping today for everything to be ready tomorrow and although I bought some sugar free chocolate chips, I noticed they have a lot of malitol in them. I'm pretty good with sugar alcohols (I use xylitol as my sweetener and haven't had any problems with it) but I don't feel good having all that sugar alcohols.

So I did a search from some easy sugar free fudge and found a few promising recipes that use all whole ingredients. The problem is that most require cream cheese. I'm already having 2 oz of cream cheese each day and 3 oz seems like a...

Results - Low Fat/High Carb 2 Week Experiment

I weighed and measured today since it's the last day of my low fat/high carb experiment.

Start Date: 1/5/09
Weight: 150.5
Bust: 40 inches
Waist: 40
Hips: 42

Week 1: 1/20/09
Weight: 147.5
Bust: 39.5
Waist: 38
Hips: 41

Week 2 (1/30/09)
Weight: 149
Bust: 40
Waist: 38.5
Hips: 41.5

I have to say I'm very disappointed! I really thought I lost weight and inches this week or at least stayed the same. I totally didn't expect to gain weight and inches ....
