Evening!

Posted 06-25-2008 at 07:09 PM by Stevie
I had an interesting day. Our dining room was delivered first thing this morning (it's in boxes and DA is over in his chair now, reviewing the instructions to put it together - we bought it online). Then I went over to the gym and got a free 5 days to "make up your mind". It's $77 a month with no contract (but a $49 sign-up fee) and they only deal with individual contracts - no family memberships. DA had told me, when I asked him this morning, to go ahead and signup for family membership but they rake in the bucks on the individual. I let him know the terms and it's up to hiim if he wants to do it.

I returned home and got on Careerbuilder and Monster and started job searching in ernest. Ran into a problem - my resume was written in Word 2007 and it's not compatible (even if you save it as a 97-03 doc.) with a lot of places that require you to upload your resume to their server. It was a huge pain and I got more frustrated so ended up going to the Mall and the book store there and got a "Vista for Dummies" and a "Word 2007 for Dummies" there to start learning. I need to know how to do all this stuff! Afterwards, I came home, ate a hamburger patty and some of my wonderful Loaded Potato Casserole for lunch, and then I hit the gym to check it out. I do NOT like their elliptical machines, which is not a good thing, since, as you know, that's my main cardio. Also, I went to the weight room, and I cannot even change the settings on the machines (it appeared that there are no women that use the weight room section) -they are a different kind than what I'm used to, and I'm NOT mechanically inclined! If I join, however, I'll have one PT session and guess what questions I'll be asking him? They also don't have the range of equipment I'm used to BUT...they are across the street, and they have an indoor pool for laps, AND a sun deck near the pool where you can lay out if you want. So, like anything else, there are pros and cons.

Got back home and checked email - actually got a response from someone asking me to send him my resume in WORD so I gladly obliged. Then got a call from someone else ( a recruiting company) asking me to do the same thing, and seeing if I was interested in a job til October. However, they want "large law firm experience" which I don't have, and then the idiot didn't even notice that I don't have corporate experience. However, I will count all this as a positive - at least I heard SOMETHING!!!! I was beginning to get worriedl

Talked to DA tonight - I have to go out and get an "interview suit" and I really don't want to, since I'm back in the game to lose this weight. However, I don't have much choice. Wonder where there's a Goodwill store? I wil have to go out starting tomorrow to get one suit, 2 tops, and a pair of sensible pumps. Dunno if I'll be required to dress like that, but when I went to downtown Manhattan, it was "suits"....

Eating is so far OP but gotta learn to stay away from Starbucks. I have an espresso macchiato in the mornings and then a red eye in the afternoons (iced unsweetened coffee with a shot of expresso over ice) - I add one Splenda and 1/2 oz of half n half to it. It's getting addictive, not to mention expensive so will start making my own. Da doesn't drink coffee at home anyway, and I can make a pot to last me a couple of days for the afternoon of iced coffees! They are so refreshing! I lost all my Da Vinci syrups in the move (to my sister) so will keep it simple. Dinner tonight was leftover lc lasagna with a side salad. Tonight it will be leftover london broil with cauli salad and Dreamfield's rotini greek pasta salad. A cold foods night - perfect for summer!

Tomorrow I also have to plan what I'm going to wear for Friday night on the boat dance we're going on. I have a new dress that's been sitting in the wings for this that I bought at Le Chateau (saw their clothes in the Mall today and still love them!) and will wear that but need to figure out if I should wear gold flats or backless heels. The heels will be hard to dance in, but I figure I'll end up taking them off anyway so, in that regard, maybe I should just go with flats? I'll go with whatever makes me look skinner. got an email from the cruise line today giving me a discount for their 4th of July cruise. The problem is..we already said "yes" to friends down in South Jersey to spend the day at their house. Can you imagine? 4th of July on the Hudson, watching the fireworks go off over the Statue of Liberty? Hm, hard decision!

Gotta run - DA just got the table together (it looks AB FAB!!!!) and is working on the chairs. Now, if he can just go through the stuff that needs to go to storage so that the enw table can be put into place! (It's sitting under the old table...)

Luv ya'll...getting back on track and feeling better...one day at a time.

Ciao for now!
