First progress in a while
I've been on and off different variations of low carb dieting for years now. I've always lost the weight, but eventually always gain it back. So, this is yet another try to shed those pesky 20 lbs that don't seem to want to stay away.
I'm trying a new variation on my previous eating plans because the last time I went on my regular low carb plan, it took a whole year to lose just 30 lbs, which in my book is way way too long. This still is somewhat low-carb but not exactly. I'm still completely cutting out the following: white breads, pasta, rice, all sweets/candies, potatoes and anything else I left out that is very high in starch and refined sugars. However, I am allowing fruit, HEALTH bread (the kind filled with grains, etc) and some other veggies that may be higher in carbs, such as peas.
The one thing I am doing that I would not reccommend to others is that I am eating very little. For now it is working for me, and I feel great. As long as I continue to feel good, I will continue this diet. A daily menu could be like this:
Breakfast: 2 small oranges or one medium one.
Lunch: slice of health bread or maybe a small salad with tuna, olive oil, tomatoes, avocado and celery.
Dinner: baked chicken legs, steak or fish.
I'm still drinking white wine as well but much less than before.
Another important aspect of this diet is watching what foods I eat together in the same meal, making sure I don't combine the wrong ones. I don't really think this part is doing much for weight loss for me, but it is doing something even more valuable - it has vastly improved my digestive problems, I have more energy and I feel much better overall than ever before. The main thing here is that I don't combine high carbs with high protein, so the fruit is eaten with nothing else as is the health bread. You also shouldn't have 2 high proteins in the same meal - so no bacon with eggs, no cheese on the burger patty, no steak and shrimp dinner, etc. It's sort of a pain in the butt at first but the fact that my daily digestion problems are now gone makes it so worth it.
So for now I'm going to just write about this weight loss journey periodically as I go along...
I had started the "food-combining" thing a week ago, but I really only started dieting on Saturday Jan 25. Since Saturday I have lost 4.4 lbs. I am very pleased with the result so far! Especially since in my last weight loss journey, I'd be lucky if I lost 4 lbs in 2 MONTHS!

Hm, the food combining stuff I've never heard of before. Although I have a stomach of steel, so nothing really ever bothers my stomach. I'd sure miss a piece of cheese on a burger patty! Good luck to you!
