About to do something drastic

Posted 07-03-2009 at 12:36 PM by smallerizing
At least in the way of WOE. Like Stillman's. Yesterday I was down to 170 after gaining about 8-10 pounds going to California earlier this month. So I've been back on low-carb since last Tuesday. Ketosis only shows slightly today, and I was up to 172 again. Seems to be a setpoint. I think that's where it was before the trip. Jim asked me to make a pie for the Fourth and I'm trying not to use that as an excuse to go off. Gary needs to stay on low-carb for his BP. He started back up with the meds yesterday and has some bad effects today. I have to say, I'm feeling better than I was when...

I didn't buckle!

So, normally that carrot cake episode would have turned into a binge, since my twisted mind would have irrationally said "All is lost..."

But I didn't cave and have pancakes for breakfast, as good as they looked. I'm glad I didn't!! I did not lose my progress and got right back into ketosis on Tuesday morning. Gary took until Thursday night (verified by ketostix on Friday morning) to do the same. I'm starting oil of oregano today and getting back on the L-Glutamine that I kept forgetting to take since last weekend. I'm not sure if I'm adding things in the right order...

carrot cake

Posted 02-16-2009 at 06:50 PM by smallerizing
Well, I got down to 179 sometime last week, the final drop to the ten pounds Dr. Stone said would help lower blood pressure. I'm still taking four meds for ashtma but of course haven't given up dairy yet.

We went on a couples weekend and had some catfish on Saturday, and I got a bone lodged in my throat. I was getting a little worried about it and mentioned it to another lady at the table, who said it's best to have a piece of bread to push it down. Same as my mom used to say. So of course I had carrot cake -- why have yukky white bread when you can have something yummy?!? ...

Second day on low carb

Posted 01-22-2009 at 07:46 PM by smallerizing
Although I don't have enough food in the house OR the time to fix it, I've kept away from the really high-carb stuff. Breakfast was a hot dog, lunch a pb sandwich, dinner whole wheat pasta and meat sauce. Not enough to put me into ketosis but enough (hopefully) to start the withdrawal without making me hurt! My head is a little sore but not bad, same yesterday. DH is not drinking enough water!!! He will go to the doctor tomorrow for a treadmill test.

I went to Kelly T's doctor yesterday and my white blood count was elevated. More antibiotics! Tomorrow I go in at 10 am due...

Steroids

Posted 01-16-2009 at 01:39 AM by smallerizing
NGNNGGGNNn.. Started a round of steroids yesterday to get rid of the bronchitis and I want to eat everything. I'm hot and a little grouchy and I don't want to start the diet today although that's the day I planned.

Starting slow by just cutting ALL the sugar and eating good food.
