I have learned that my addiction affects me physically, Mentally, and Spiritually. So I know I need to be working on those three areas every day to become well. (better than well)

This will be my blog about my journey to those lands.

Twenty minute mile!!!

Posted 05-12-2008 at 05:00 PM by slimdays
Hey! One of my goals was to be able to do a mile in 20 minutes. Today was the first day that I did it.

I have been slowly working up to it since I started back in January when I weighed 286 lbs and I was sorely out of shape.

I have not "killed" myself doing too many minutes or miles on my treadmill. I started out doing 15 minutes five days a week. My pace in the beginning was 2.5 mph. I slowly graduated as my body was willing and today is the day that I did 3.0 and did it for 20 minutes. I feel that is a big accomplishment.

My next goal would be to stay on the treadmill longer. 30 minutes sounds good. I will have to work up to that too.

But I have noticed that as I lose weight it becomes easier to do my routine. I am also getting into better shape than I was. I just like not having to stay on there forever to see results. I expect when I actually get slim I will have to do many more minutes than I am doing now but I am not there yet. One day at a time!

Great job! I know what it feels like to hit those milestones, When I was on Atkins for 1st time about 4 years aog, I worked out about 4 days a week and got down to a 14 minute mile, which was huge for me! Now I can even muster the energy to get back on the treadmill that I now have at home. But I vowed today in my blog to start 2 times a week. Thats a start...right? CONGRATS TO YOU!
