Today is Friday and I've been having a difficult week...and overall a difficul time losing weight. First of all, I ate half of a Carrot Cake....but was on plan prior to that eating Whitecastle Pie...but that seemed to be a lot of calories...and cheese! When I was on Atkins I stuck to it but I was tired all of the time and I was eating a lot of fat, but especially a lost of cheese.... I've been reading a lot of diets on this forum trying to figure out just what is right for me... I like CAD and lost initially 5 pounds, but nothing after that. Then I started cycling and kept gaining and losing the same 5 pounds... Then went to South Beach and lost that 5 pounds in a two week period and nothing since....that was around August 9th...
Based on what I know for sure, I know that when I switch diets I lose weight initially that week but afterwards nothing. So that is telling me that I need to switch things up to continue losing, however, that could simply mean adding in some good carbs and not switching plans...
Plans that I am considering are Eat Fat Get Thin, Barry Groves, and Suzanne Sommers, Sommercize Program....
Today Fawn suggested that following these guidelines would result in a good weight loss program....
A solid weight loss plan that most will not have any problems losing on would include:
animal proteins including eggs and fish
coconut oil
olive oil
butter
vegetables all other than root veggies and corn
avocado
Now that's pretty boring but it's a guaranteed weight loss plan.
Frustrated...Not Losing...What the Heck!!!
Good Morning,
I'm upset today... My exhusband and I got into a debate last night. I was frustrated about not losing weight and we were discussing it. He said, well you eat a lot of food....wth!!!
Now of course, I was surprised by this statement since I have been documenting all of my food in Fitday for the past week and a half...
I informed him that I have been documenting my food in Fitday because I thought the same thing, but have found out that I am not even getting my food intake up to 1200 calories...so it is less than that most days...around 1000 calories... I also told him that at him and my doctors suggestions, I began the C25K Program 7 weeks ago, thus exercising, and have not lost but 2 pounds in that amount of time and my clothes are not any looser... He still argued the point that I eat a lot! According to him, when his waist line increased, he simply cut back on eating to mostly one meal a day and he lost the weight, and so that is something that I should do... I didn't even bother to explain to him that I had tried IF for a month and that didn't work either! Or should I say, it was somewhat effective in that I lost 5 pounds doing CAD and IF, but after that stayed on the program for another 4 weeks and my reward meals started getting out of control with me having sweets so I switched plans...
I did say to him that women's and men's bodies are different, that men have more muscle, that my metabolism because of hormonal issues and meds is much lower than it should be...and that by eating more frequently that my metabolism is supposed to speed up...
That, of course, is debatable because again I'm not seeing any more weight loss eating one meal a day than I am eating 3 or 5 meals a day!
I am frustrated to say the least because the numbers speak for themselves...
what I am actually consuming every day! Because of the numbers, I decided to try to increase my caloric intake this week up to 1500 calories to see if I experience a loss... We will see how this goes, but it is difficult for me to get in this much food, mostly because it takes a great deal of planning and cooking, and those are two things that I am challenged at! That said, I will do my best!
When speaking to my doctor about the fact that I haven't seen a loss, she suggested exercising more
....okay so now I need to exercise at least five days a week instead of the three days a week... I am tired all of the time, and exercising hasn't changed that one bit. Exercising does, however, help with the stress so that is a good thing. It will be very difficult for me to exercise five days a week, now I know that I am thinking negative and need to think more positively, I am just stating facts right now.
I know I need to do something different on those two days, so perhaps Pilates, or some of the other exercise tapes that I have will do....some sort of strength training at least! The thought of going to the gym makes me want to puke
so that is not an option right now... I'll do what I can and thank God for it!
I've just got to keep going...keep trying...I would at least like to get 20 pounds off by the end of the year...although it is inching away fast!
So essentially, that would be five pounds a month...oh such wishful thinking!!!

Goals for this Month...
1. Eat 3 servings of vegetables a day
2. Drink 3 32 ounces of water a day
3. Exercise 5 days a week
4. Eat as close to 1500 calories a day
5. Track foods in Fitday
I think these are realistic for the month...

I agree, maybe you are eating too few calories. As I am sure you are aware, cutting too many calories slows the metabolism. Perhaps this might explain why you are so tired. 1500 calories sounds better. If your feeling energetic, then drop more calories. I finally found great success this summer by taking up walking. Simple, low impact, and much more invigorating than treadmills and gyms. I started by walking one hour each evening covering about 3 miles during that time. As I started dropping, I began to slowly increase the distance. two hours is about as long as I can walk due to time restrictions. I cut about 20 pounds in a two month period before I plateaued and had to switch up my workout. Good luck on your endeavors. |

Wow....you've done very well! Thanks for the comments. I am feeling a little better with upping my calories and my fat... Woke up this morning not feeling as tired as I normally do... So perhaps something good will come out of these changes.
Exercise...I added Pilates to my workout this week to see if the strength training helps me with my journey... It was a short video, but I definitely felt it! ![]() TJ ![]() |
