My distorted body image

Posted 01-22-2008 at 03:07 PM by amithereyet
I have been reading a lot lately about body image around here and its importance. Do you know what is funny? When I'm somewhat overweight I look in the mirror and think "I'm not so bad". But as I lose I think "OMG, what happened here?!" I can't understand why I feel so huge as I actually am going down in weight, but not bad when I'm heavier. It's a puzzler.

B: latte' and almonds
L: chicken, salad, ff ranch, almonds
S: beef jerky, green peppers, almonds
D: garlic shrimp and veggies
S: 1/2 zone bar

Back down to 128.6.

Starting Again

Posted 01-22-2008 at 02:08 PM by Sparklegrrl
Updated 01-22-2008 at 02:09 PM by Sparklegrrl
Well...after successfully losing to within 10lbs of my goal weight and maintaining it for a few years, I find myself right back at square 1.

Female trouble, family stress, etc. have all contributed to the gain.

I am ready, psyched and headed for the goal line!

Induction - Day 1

This morning I had an egg w/a piece of cheese.

For lunch I had some ground turkey w/rotel, onions, jalapenos and a little cheese.

Supper? Not sure...steak maybe.

Lovin the Atkins plan!

YOU: Body Acceptance

Posted 01-22-2008 at 12:52 PM by jezzie
Found at a blog called Babble:

I wonder what kind of world we might live in, if instead of “lose weight”,
people would instead make a new year’s resolution to

“learn more about myself and the people in my life”.

Instead of planning to shed pounds, how about working on shedding
self-hatred/loathing/dislike/discomfort

YOU: Healthy at Every Size

Posted 01-22-2008 at 11:27 AM by jezzie
An article in th NY Times led me to some blogs about Body Acceptance
and ... Health at Every Size.

Quote:
We need a Body Acceptance movement and a Fat Acceptance movement
because hating ourselves is a form of self-injury that doesn’t do anyone any good.

- The Rotund
Over the next few days I will do some more digging into this subject.
It is sad to read how fat people who are dieting describe themselves.

11lbs Down in Less Than 2 Weeks

Posted 01-22-2008 at 09:34 AM by erickajean
Down another lb today, that makes 11 total! I can't believe it!! I am now at 189! The 190's flew right by!! Let's hope the 180's do the same.

I have decided to stay on induction for a while. I like the food I'm eating, I don't miss anything, so why change? I'd like to get to goal ASAP, and I believe induction will get me there. Once I hit goal, I'll slowly start to add in things, but not much. I really enjoy not eating carbs, I feel better. Eventually I'll add in some more greens, and possibly even LC bread, we'll see. But, for now, I'm happy with things the way they are.
