Like oil, meat is subsidized by the federal government. Like oil, meat is subject to accelerating demand as nations become wealthier, and this, in turn, sends prices higher. Finally — like oil — meat is something people are encouraged to consume less of, as the toll exacted by industrial production increases, and becomes increasingly visible.

Weigh in Sunday 27th

Posted 01-27-2008 at 02:40 AM by junkfoodmonkey
No change this week, damn it.

I think I'll stick with 25g for one more week and if still no loss I guess I go back to induction level carbs.

I hope I can keep upping the fat a little. I have lard now!

The Eve of My Journey

Posted 01-26-2008 at 10:53 PM by CourtneyC
So it is the eve of my journey and once again I have thrown out all of my non-Atkins friendly food. Fortunately for me I have been eating out quite a bit and didn't have much. Oh how much money I have wasted on this process.

I am feeling very good about my re-induction tomorrow. I know it wont' be easy (especially since TOM is coming) but you know what? Now is the time to just do it. I'm sick of talking about it. I've got a great support system (this site) and I am ready to jump right in. No longer am I going to discuss my eating plan with anyone (friends and family) either.

Going into Week Two

Posted 01-26-2008 at 10:19 PM by Bethanyblondie
I am feeling very pumped up tonight. Instead of my usual day parked on the couch or on the floor playing with my daughter, I spend most of the day raking and bagging leaves (while my daughter ran amuck in the yard), and I STILL went running tonight as well! I am definitely feeling the extra energy that the Atkin's way of life provides.

My husband's been doing pretty good as well on the plan, not as strict as I am...but he doesn't have as much to lose as I do. I'm probably not getting quite as many of my carbs from vegetables as I should, only about ten or so seem to come from
