EVIL SPLENDA

Posted 02-08-2008 at 12:48 AM by bav
SPLENDA IS EVIL. I think it's giving me a rash on my hands (AGAIN). It first appeared when i switched from drinking Diet Dr Pepper/Diet Pepsi over to Diet Rite. I drank maybe one per day. After a little while a slight rash started to appear on my right hand. I kept my routine the same, have a Diet Rite at work in the afternoon, rash was getting worse. I cut out the Diet Rite completely, rash gone. Now that I've been on this SF flavored americano kick I've increased my splenda amounts / day (from the flavored davinci/torani syrups) and the rash is back. It didn't come on slowly like it first did, probably 60% of my right hand and 20% of my left has a little red rash on it--just from TODAY. Ouch.

I'm not going to make my SF flavored americano for one week and see what happens. If it is simply the davincis/toranis that sucks. If it's sucralose all together, not cool batman. That means no more of my LC Monster, no more flavored syrups, no more Land O Lakes fluffy whip, etc.. etc... If my body is responding like this then I need to listen and cut it out.

I have already cut out aspartame 100% which wasn't too hard, but no splenda?

I do have some stevia that I have used before. I don't like how it clumps, maybe it's just the brand I have... And, I don't know if I can cook with it with any success (cheesecake muffins is my only concern.. haha).

Have any of you experienced any similar symptoms?

:dunno:

Daily Update - Thursday

Hello!

At 213 (I think) this morning.

Today was a mess when it came to my menu.

For breakfast I made 3 scrambled eggs with .25 cup of cheese and 3 slices of bacon. I only had time to eat 3 bites of it then it went into tupperware. (It's in the fridge now).

I did have time for my norm, SF Americano with HC. Didn't have time for my snacks (string cheese). I did however have time for lunch, I had a salad with green peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers. It was really good.

For dinner I had some garlic shrimp.

No Fitday totals for today, I don't think they have "three bites" as a measurement. hehe.

:hiya:

Edit: Also had a LC monster today

None today...I had a treacherous assignment due tonight. My communications teacher will not let us slack off not even for a minute. I just completed the assignment and I need to go to bed...

Goodnight!

Day 24 Thu 7Feb08

Today was good. It was easy to get through the conference because they brought in sandwhiches. The chocolate cake looked good though.

I did 1 hr cardio. The hotel scale said 168.
Someone said that the altitude change makes a difference. That you weigh more at lower altitudes. Not sure if that is true, but it sure sounds nice.

Went out for dinner and had salad, broccoli and steak. It was good.

Traveling tomorrow. Will be good to get home and see Chloe.

I checked out the altitude vs weight comment someone made. It only like a .1...

Doing good

Posted 02-07-2008 at 09:04 PM by fancyface
Today I have had about 15 carbs, my blood sugar 1.5 hours after dinner was 99, tried a new recipe and loved it, walked around at lunch, and have downed 108 ounces of water. Doing Good!!

The recipe was breakfast muffins:
16 ounces cream cheese softened
1/2 cup Splenda
2 eggs lightly stirred
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Mix all ingredients well with a mixer. Makes 12 muffins. Use paper muffin pan liners and bake at 375 for 20 minutes. 1.5 - 2 carbs each. Very yummy. Can also sprinkle the tops with cinnamon, but I just made mine...
