My name is AJay, and I've been doing lc since January 08, when I hit 282 lbs. A sudden divorce yanked the life out of me, and the emotional eater that I've always been just deepened. The refrigerator became my best buddy. I couldn't get through a trip to the grocery store without sampling items that I'd picked up. I'm a christian. Psalms 27, in fact, is one of my favorite scriptures. It speaks such words of comfort. Yet, I was struggling. On a recent trip out-of-state, I was reminded by my daughter just how youthful and attractive her mother "used to be". Those words cut my heart to the core. It took me six months to gain the courage to do lc.
I'm happy to say, though the early days of my "lc journey" weren't as easy as I'd thought. I managed to get accustomed to my new way of life "lc". I love coffee and sodas, and giving up the caffeine was a challenge. During the first month of this journey, I detoxed from sugar and caffeine. I thought my head would explode. But, obviously it didn't. The pounds began to slowly come off. In April, I hit a plateau (234), and there I stayed for a month or so. I took a trip and left Stateside and couldn't shed a pound. The French Canadian's sure can cook! I struggled to stay on track. I confess, I had a handful of french fries and a few slices of meatloaf. I know that's a No No. Luckily, I didn't gain any weight.
I weighed yesterday, and am at 208! Thrilled I am! That is, until I allowed myself to look in the mirror after a shower. I'd not seen myself naked since January. There's still lots of flubber to shed! I've been reading some material on strength training for older folks... like me. I think once I get to about 190 I'll to do some. The treadmill has been my friend these days. I hit the gym a few time a week and walk in my neighborhood on off days. I want to get to 195 before my 53 birthday, and I have just 4 weeks to get there. I'll let you know how I progress.
