So Hot

Posted 07-29-2009 at 01:30 AM by pchick
I'm in Portland and today it got to 106 outside... and we don't have air conditioning. I'm so miserable right now ~ I swear being bigger in the heat is awful.
My feet are so swollen it hurts to walk.
I also had a jamba juice today cuz I was so hot ~ not good on the diet.

New diet regimen

Posted 07-27-2009 at 10:14 AM by pchick
I've been doing okay with my new diet, but it's really taking a lot of time out of my day to plan and shop and cook. My hubby says it's a very good thing to spend time on, but it's getting old already.

To be truly gluten/grain free, I have to cook all three meals, all seven days.
I have to figure a way to make a bunch of stuff over the weekend, so I don't have to go shopping almost every day. I have been getting a lot of fish, chicken, eggs, leafy greens, veggies, and some fruit and cheese... and my new find: almond meal.

I'm slowly losing weight! I'm...

Celiac research

Posted 07-18-2009 at 11:59 AM by pchick
So, as you may know, I was recently diagnosed with Celiacs disease... with a leaky gut. The leaky gut is because I went for so long without knowing I was born with an intolerance to gluten, and I don't make the enzyme analyse(sp?). That leaves my small intestine all messed up and it is now porous and food "leaks" into my gut ~ YUK!

No one ever tested me before for this because it's considered a wasting disease, where you usually can't keep weight on (like cancer)... and I've always been chunky if not just fat. Through my research I've found that about 20% of celiacs...

gym day

Posted 07-15-2009 at 12:00 PM by pchick
So I got myself a membership at another gym... I went in yesterday to meet with a trainer and she totally kicked my butt! I'm walking and doing everything a little slower today - so sore
Oh well ~ it's worth it. I miss going to the gym... I used to go about 3-4x a week for years and years. I quit just last January because of how crappy I was feeling. Plus I had gained almost 25 pounds since starting that membership, so I felt it wasn't really doing anything.

Now with this new diet plan, I'm re-invigorated to try my workouts again. Maybe this time I'll have...

Gluten Allergy

Posted 07-14-2009 at 09:18 AM by pchick
So I'm starting week three today! Going pretty good.

Went to the doctor yesterday, and got my GI tract test results and found out everything is fine except for the fact that I was born with an allergy to gluten. It could be the reason for all my "minor symptoms". The doctor was impressed that I cut sugar and carbs from my diet ~ they would have had me cut all gluten anyway... but they think I should eat more veggies because my keytones were high. I was happy to hear that though, because everything I've read about low carb dieting says that when keytones are present...
