Getting started is the hardest part for me.

Ugh. I can not seem to get truly started on my new way of eating. I keep telling myself tomorrow I'll start. But when tomorrow rolls around there is always some other excuse to wait another day. I have a bunch of non low carb friendly foods in the house (including a tub of refrigerated cookie dough) that are just sitting in the kitchen staring at me, practically begging me to eat them. Then I had a birthday party to go to last weekend and there was food and cake and mixed drinks, etc. Needless to say I gave in to temptation. Then I've got people at work that are just dead set believers that low carb diets are evil and bad for you. One of them is a vegetarian and eats things like bread and beans every day. She says, "Look at me! I'm healthy and skinny. And I eat lots of carbs and no meat. How can low carb be healthy for you?" Well, that's nice honey but I can't get by with even smelling a piece of bread without gaining weight! We have different body types so get over it. So anyway, those are just some of the things I am having issues with. I talked to my cousin about them (she's lost over 60 pounds on this way of eating) and she says I need to get all of the "bad" food out of the house before I start. She told me to use it all this week and then go shopping and start with a kitchen full of low carb food and snacks. Then she told me to just take a salad with a little chicken or something on it for lunch. That way it won't be so obvious that I'm following a low carb diet and I won't have to hear about it from my coworkers. That will probably help me. So I'm just going to do it. I've come to learn that will power can not be trusted. I need a little time on plan to break my sugar cravings before I attend another birthday or holiday extravaganza where there will be cake and other sugary, yummy things. I CAN NOT be trusted around food at the moment! So I'm going to make my cookies, eat my cheesy rice stuff and mashed potatoes for dinner this week, and then my cupboards will be empty of the bad food. Then I can just start fresh!
