Stalled/Gaining - 9/27/08

I'm actually a pound up for the week, although I won't officially weigh until Monday. My body sure is being stubborn this time around. I'm going to try just chicken, eggs, and lettuce today and tomorrow and see what happens. I think I'm on a plataeu.

Monday I get weighed at my workplace and if I haven't lost any weight, I won't get the prize. Those silly little prizes sure are a lot of incentive to lose. Only one more weigh-in after this Monday. But my workplace is starting another program on October 27 that will keep us honest through the holidays. I am grateful that...

Initial Goal 9/22/08 - Yogurt Exception?

I hit 122 lbs today which was my initial goal!!! However it was a bit hard to be excited because I still feel so FLABBY! I looked good at this weight when I was younger. I guess I need to increase the conditioning exercises and not depend only on cardio. I'm trying to get the YOU On A Diet 20-min workout into my regular routine. Anyway, I'm pressing on for 118 lbs.

Had the strangest craving today. I was reading a thread regarding the "Yogurt Exception." I never heard of such a thing but apparently it means fermented dairy products technically have fewer...

Fitness Is Religion: Keep the Faith 9/17/08

I've come to the conclusion that chosing a diet is a lot like chosing a religion. I do not subscribe to the tenets of one particular religion because I do not believe that one religion is true and correct to the exclusion of all others.

How do we come to our beliefs anyway? Most of the time it is based simply on geography. If I had been born in India, I would likely be Hindu; born in the Middle East, I'd be Muslim; born in Isreal and I'd be Jewish. So how do we really know? Well, I've gotten over my discouragement from yesterday and feel better today. I think hitting the 10 pound weight loss mark helped! <even though I gave in and ate a half of a peach last night right at bedtime>.

I started re-reading my YOU On A Diet book but was afraid it would be to drastic of a change and mess up my weight loss. Then I remembered my South Beach book. I dusted it off and will begin re-reading it today. I think I've brainwashed myself into thinking every form of carb is off-limits. Now I need to reprogram my thinking to include the healthy complex...

I'm tired. I've been feeling tired and drained for awhile now. Shouldn't I feel energized by now? I'm beginning to think it is because of my diet. I feel like giving up or checking into other diets, but maybe I just need to study the next phase and see what gets added back in. I think I need to add back in some complex carbs. I'll do some reading and studying before I make a decision.
