Homemade Duathlon - 6/13/09
My BF and I decided to have our own Duathlon just to see how we could do. So we took our bikes to the River Walk which is a 4 mile one way paved trail. We parked on one end and rode our bikes to the other end and back for a total of 8.5 miles in 45 min. We both have mountain bikes with nubby tires, so I don't know how much difference that makes on pavement; and we had to maneuver around other bikers, joggers, and walkers. Afterwards we ran to the 1.5 mile mark and back for a 3 mile run. I completed it in 27:36 which is about my normal pace right now. So apparently the bike ride did not effect my ability to run. It was actually a little more difficult than I expected, mainly because there were a lot of hills and it was quite hot. But all that matters is that we completed what we set out to do! Now to add in the swimming part.
I'm also considering a 10K by this fall when it's cooler; so I need to start building up my distance.
I sure feel good. My weight was back down to 113.6 this morning, so I'm finally back in my zone.
