Couch to 5K? Me? 1/4/09

Posted 01-04-2009 at 07:26 AM by maria40nc
I've never been a runner; never even gave it a thought. I always thought that running was for people in better shape than me.

Discovery Health channel is running a new program called, "Could You Survive." Three overweight, out-of-shape people had to save a loved one from a wrecked car, then run 1 mile to call 911 within 12 min. There was one woman (Abbie) and two men. The woman had the best time, but none of them made it.

They trained with marines for only 4 weeks and tried again. This time Abbie was the only one to make it under 12...

Happy New Year! So today begins a new year with new weight/fitness goals. I met most of my goals last year, so just tweeked them a little this year for continued maintenance:
````````````````````````````````````````
My goal is to take care of my body by putting proper nutrition into it and by giving it regular exercise.
I am maintaining my weight below 118 lbs (currently 116.4).
I am walking at least 30 min 3 to 5 days a week.
I am doing a cardio workout at least 3 days a week.
I am doing strength/hand weights 3 days...
Binged again! - 12-20-08
Posted 12-20-2008 at 10:17 AM by maria40nc
Mistake #1 - I was getting hungry. I should have eaten something before I got to this point.
Mistake #2 - Picked up the cream cheese for "just a couple of bites." (yea, right)
Mistake #3 - Boy I sure do like cream cheese mushed with peanut butter and a packet of splenda; and there just happens to be peanut butter in the frige.
Results: Entire 8 oz package of cream cheese and the last of the jar peanut butter are now gone. And I have a bellyache.
Add to list of things NOT TO EVER have in the house:
Almonds...
Portion Control/Just STOP!; Exercise/Just GO! - 12/11/08
I've been having issues with bingeing lately. Not on carbs, but bingeing on low carb foods to TOTAL excess. Fifteen nuts turned into 20, turned into 25, turned into 3/4 of the can; which totaled over 1000 calories and 35 carbs! Then there was the cream cheese episode. And why did I eat an Atkins bar right after eating a full meal? Actually not one, but two! I never had them before and I was curious (was my excuse). In my mind, I know when it's time to stop; but yet my hand reaches for more. I tell myself I'm not going to do it; then I do it anyway. What is SO hard about JUST STOPPING!...
Twas My Weight Before Fitness - 11/24/08
Today is the final weigh-in for my workplace holiday fitness challenge. Since I had already hit my goal of 118 lbs when the challenge started, my goal was to maintain weight and exercise throughout the 4 weeks of the challenge.
I weighed in on October 27 at 117.4 lbs. For final weigh-in, I was 114.2 lbs!!! This is nearly the lowest I've ever been. I'm a little concerned about maintaining with the holidays upon us, but I will not let it get out of hand.
There is a poem that goes with the fitness challenge:
