RAW FOOD, REAL WORLD

Posted 03-10-2008 at 07:29 AM by LibertyJen
By Matthew Kenney and Sarma Melngailis

I just finished reading this interesting find. Matthew is a highly acclaimed chef and restauranteur in NYC, who is now a part of the Raw Food Movement. My DH and I scoffed when we heard that they were opening a Raw Food Restaurant, but now I am seeing the wisdom in their approach.

Yes, it is vegan. That seems so contrary to what I have found to be true. I also recognize now that it is the processed foods that have given me so much trouble in my life ... I eat a lot of meat as well. Perhaps cutting back would be a good idea....

NOURISHING TRADITIONS by Sally Fallon

Posted 02-04-2008 at 08:03 PM by LibertyJen
My Doctor is the head of our local WESTON A PRICE FOUNDATION chapter ... and this is the handbook. I enjoyed reading through this cookbook against the diet "experts" especially with an endorsement by Dr. Atkins at the beginning. I am certainly encouraged to look at the Raw Foods Movement much more seriously now. And I eat too much bacon. Shoot ... that is like my favorite food! This is a great reference on many topics ... and perhaps just a bit too advanced for me right now!

GO FOR THE GOAL by Mia Hamm

Posted 02-04-2008 at 08:01 PM by LibertyJen
Non-Fiction

My 3rd Grader has been working on a biography project for her class and chose to do it on MIA HAMM. During our research we found this AUTOBIOGRAPHY in the adult section, so I picked it up. I am not really a sports fan, played soccer a bit while I was young, and never really followed Mia's soccer career. This was a great read: good reminder that consistency always wins and that the cream rises to the top. A champion is someone who suffers in sweat when no one is watching. That sure fits me lately!! I enjoyed the uplifting read.

DARWIN'S PLANTATION by Ken Ham and Charles Ware

Posted 02-03-2008 at 05:44 AM by LibertyJen
Non Fiction

In preparation for Black American History month, I highly recommend this new release. So many do not understand the sheer RACIST tenets of the Theory of Evolution. This book will challenge your thinking: what are the differences between the races and why can we not get along?

What if God created us all equal ... in His image? Then where is the foundation for our race issues if not the evil in this world.

You did not evolve from animals. A loving Creator made you with qualities and characteristics different than mine. You have value...

PROTECT AND DEFEND by Vince Flynn

Ooooooo...I have waited (literally on the Library reserved list) since October for this read. And if I woulda known the story line going in, I might have skipped it! Totally freaked me out ... I kept saying "There are not enough pages left for there to be a good resolution to this!).

Vince Flynn, again you prove yourself to be my favorite author. The nail biting, cut from the headlines story lines are incredible. Every fan of the show "24" needs to read your books ... thanks for rescuing "24" from itself with your consultations! Please, Please, Please...
