THE ROAD TO CANA by Anne Rice

In book two of CHRIST OUR LORD, we rejoin the life of Jesus through His point of view at age 30. He works in the family business and is known as Yeshua the Sinless by the townsfold of Nazareth. The opening scene was very dramatic: a public stoning of two young men who were under the suspicion of an improper relationship. Knowing the author's son's views on homosexuality and religion, I thought this was a very compelling story line. How would Jesus react to watching a throng of neighbors hurrying to kill off two friends.
The drama in this book revolved around Yeshua's relationship with a cousin who was in love with him. She is turning down suitors hoping for his interest, He understands that He cannot burden a wife and family with the difficult road ahead of him.
I love this series and the way that the storyteller Anne Rice is able to communicate the personality of Jesus is very enlightening. I look forward to reading more of her series.
And I hope this book caught Christopher Rice's attention.
