So good to be on time ...

Posted 03-15-2008 at 06:00 AM by LibertyJen
Okay, so this is personal ... so proceed with caution.

My son will be seven years old in three months. He is such a delight and adds a wonderful whim of mischief and intelligence to my small clan. Life just would be missing an important perspective if he wasn't in our lives.

Ever since I had him, I have not been the same either. My hair, which has been so naturally curly even my mom asked when I was going to stop going for a perm, has gone straighter ... with body ... so it is now neither cute curly nor cute straight without styling help. My body has retained the weight I gained while pregnant and continued on upwards. I got married at 185, boy did I feel great then! I was 195 when I had him, joined up here at 230! And I am 5'4" ... people say I carry it well ... well, I am tired of carrying it! My emotional strength has been replaced with doubts and distraction. Worst of all, my regular monthly cycle is so very irregular! This actually has led to rounds of different BCPills ... and even two additional pregnancies! Both while on BCP: one is my darling youngest daughter. The other we buried in December 2005. Needless to say my hormone cycle has been a strong health concern of mine.

I met a Certified Lifestyle Counselor in May last year at a small business owner meeting. She had recently left a weight loss company (locally owned, operated and advertised) to join up with a natural healing practice in my area. The Doctor is a chiropractor is passionate about the message that your body wants to heal itself, it simply needs the nutrional support to give it the proper tools. I met with her and told her my rebuttal: I have concluded that my body is against me and I am not sure that there is a solution. She asked me to give her 12 sessions to see where she could get me. The sessions would start off being weekly, then will eventually grow to being monthly ... maybe longer. I was sold. And if this didn't work, I didn't know what I would do next.

I have lost weight before following Atkins very strictly ... and I have always celebrated my successes and then fallen off the wagon. I have never reached a final goal, but I am confident that this is the right way for me to be eating. I have followed the book: eating tons of veggies and good carbs as I progressed up the ladder. My parents have even commented: "We notice that you are no longer doing Atkins by what you are eating ..." That means, I am not just eating ham and bacon and cheese (which is exactly what my Dad ate to achieve his 80 pound loss on Atkins!).

I just had my 11th Session with this Doctor. And my monthly friend is today right on time ... for the fourth time in a row! I feel so different today than I did just nine months ago, it is truly amazing. My cycles are back. My hair has never looked so good ... and then I cut it off for convenience! HA! My DH is disappointed, but it is really cute!!! I am losing weight eating much more liberally than I did the last time. I am cutting even more refined foods from my diet (but I LOVE Splenda ... ) and have even used Raw Sugar in my coffee! I am again finding which foods react within me and I have been surprised that a lot of things I was cutting out whilce being good, really do not affect me! I have even warded off my annual sinus infections and rounds of antibiotics by better supporting my immune and sinus system.

My message is simply this: Your body does want to heal itself and with good nutritional support, you will give it the tools to do just that. Today my ailments include a pulled muscle from too strenuous exercise ... when working out is now no longer a chore but a fun addiction. I truly am looking forward to seeing how much more I will see in improvement over the next nine months!

If you would like to find such a doctor in your area, check out the Weston A. Price Foundation or do a simple search on Nutritional Response Testing ... and send to me a PM!
