A blog for "Hopeless" and anybody else fighting temptation.

This is a blog about my way of dealing with temptation. Feel free to comment on your ways of dealing with it as well, as we can all use a page from each others book! Hopefully, you'll gain something from this list, but you might just find me crazy
DRINK CRAP LOADS OF WATER(128 oz/day)!!! 1. It helps curb hunger 2. It makes you pee every 15 minutes so you're not staring in the fridge for too long!
GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY!!! 1. Nobody likes to eat with hands straight from the dishes or tub. 2. Your house will be cleaner. So when that urge comes on, get that toilet brush and scrub!
GET KINKY WITH THOSE TASTE BUDS!! Sensualizing your palate is key to satisfaction! Make sure you include items that are bitter, salty and sweet! Tips: use a salt substitute. Hold breads and other starches in the back of your mouth for a minute or two before swallowing as it chemically breaks down to sugars and can become bitter. Crystal Light and Wylers are great substitutes for popsicles, slushies and anything else you can dream up!
WALK IT OFF!!! I constantly find myself doing laps around my workplace in order to avoid a temptation and talk myself out of giving in! 1. This helps get a little exercise in the mix of things 2. It helps me mentally adjust my thoughts on the current situation.
DON'T BE A HOARDER!!! "It's perfectly good food, and I hate to see money go to waste". Throw it away and get over it. Cut your losses, and stop buying the crap! This way, if you're going to cheat, at least you know the food you're cheating with is healthy.
GET THE FAM INVOLVED OR SEPARATE YOURSELF!!! Living with non-dieting roommates is a struggle for me, but I separate my foods into a single cabinet and drawer in the fridge so I know I can only look in these 2 places for MY food. Applying the same method in any living situation is beneficial. 1. You keep track of the foods you have and are allowed. 2. It keeps you from drooling over somebody's fat-filled goodies. 3. It gives you more control and a sense of power over your eating.
CALL YOUR MOTHER!!! My mother could, and does for that matter, make herself hoarse talking about everything going on in her life. It's endless at times. Find that person in your life; mother, aunt, gabby abby,, and give them a call! 1. You're staying in touch. 2. You'll be so tired at the end of the conversation, eating will be the last thing on your mind

hey nicole,
I too have had the nightly hungry horrors!! I keep Diet root Beer handy and make myself a root beer float with whip cream! 1-2tsp of low fat whip cream is more than enough for a root beer float! It also takes a little while to drink and holds you over!!! *drools* |
