YOU: Reading Lincoln's Words

People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.

Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.

My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen

To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men.

The Bible is not my book, and Christianity is not my religion.
I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma.

When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad.

YOU: Hate the Word; Hate the Emotion

Posted 02-06-2008 at 05:07 AM by jezzie
Hate the Word; Hate the Emotion

I avoid hate. The word. The emotion. Yet hate seems to 'work for' many.

It’s so much easier than thinking. Why exert yourself by looking inward
when looking outward (and placing blame) leaves one so smugly satisfied?

We have just enough religion to make us hate,
but not enough to make us love one another.

YOU: Taking Advantage of Opportunity

My car died. My TV picture died.
It's an opportunity disguised as a nuisance.
How will I take advantage of it?

On another note:
Congratulations to the Giants. Ticker tape parade today.

And may the best candidates win the primaries this Super Tuesday.

The realists are not crazy, after all. But neither are the dreamers.
Winds change.
If you’re sailing against the wind today, it may be different tomorrow.
And there are few things more powerful than the winds of history.

You: and Eleanor Rigby

Ah, look at all the lonely people

All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?

Thinking about the hundreds of people, including me,
who spent Sunday afternoon at a Bulletin Board.

The disconnect generation?

YOU: Putting Life Events in Perspective

Keeping things in perspective .....

Yesterday morning my TV picture went to the old TV dump in the sky.
It happened exactly two weeks after my car decided it was too old to start.

For just a moment I got quite annoyed at the TV. Then my trigger kicked in.
I have trained my self to ask ... ''Think about it. How important is this?''

I thought about the 29 yo woman and her seven year old son who were killed
in a car accident several miles from me. I thought about her two year old son,
in the hospital, growing up without...
