Day 1 of Induction:
I went on a basic Atkins diet (with some modifications to limit fat) and did quite well. I lost about 50 lbs in about 4 months during the summer of 2004. I felt great, looked younger, had a lot of energy.
Here is how the weight loss went.
Started: 275 lbs
Ended: 224 lbs
Current weight as of this morning: 255 lbs
I was actually shocked that I was not heavier.
Based upon how much I have been eating lately (mostly food rich in refined sugars) and based upon the fact that I fatigue easy AND am not getting any younger, I made the decision yesterday that I would dive back into the program and get my eating under control.
I have not set any specific weight loss goal. I have a target of 200 lbs, but I have decided not the focus on that. I will take one day at a time fighting the minute to minute cravings that accompany the loss of addictive sugar laden foods.
Today, this is what my LC diet was like:
Morning - Evening: No major cravings. Satisfied the craving for chocolate by eating two sugar free (diabetic type) mini chocolate bars. My carb count may have been slightly above 20 g, however this was virtually a cold turkey cutoff compared to what I have been eating over the last two years.
I can already feel the diet kicking in. My torso has a warm, tense feeling (something I noticed when I was on the diet before). I have stayed EXTREMELY hydrated today. I am supplementing tomato juice for its LC antioxidant and nutritional value as well as sugar free fiber pills.
I was quite amazed that I made it through the day avoiding tempting sweets. The hardest, but most empowering part of the diet is self control. I won that battle today. The battle will, however, start again tomorrow at work. I am a teacher and getting out of my classroom is difficult. Most likely will pack LC snacks that try and get a similar result to today's success. However, stress makes me hungry. Hope my lessons go well tomorrow!

Gave in to some temptation today. They had some desert in the workroom. German Bee Sting cake (awesome!).
I did also resist temptation today. Went to a pizza buffet. Resisted those breadsticks and pizza pretty well. Sampled the cheese/toppings on a few. Mostly stuck with the salad bar. Also, there was some taco meat that allowed me to make a no shell taco.
Took in a few more calories than I wanted to. Might pay for it on the scale in the morning. Oh well, I'll look long term. However, they were, for the most part, low carb.
For whatever reason, I felt a little more hungry than normal....
