Today is Day 4 Smoke-free
Posted 05-29-2008 at 03:25 AM by grandmoo
I've heard that after 72 hours without a smoke the body clears out the (immediate) toxins and the actual nicotine cravings should be gone. The remaining cravings are psychological rather than physiological...hope that's right!
Karazona, I appreciate the ideas. I've been doing lc since January of 2007 but have just VERY recently gotten active on this site. I look forward to checking out the recipe sections!
I'm on my 2nd cup of coffee (thank goodness that doesn't cause me to crave-LOL-I've quit smoking before and TRIED to quit coffee, guess which is easier for me...) and just about to finally wake up. I don't want to take the Chantix any longer than necessary, it causes me to have technicolor dreams that won't go away after I get up. What's weird is that if I get up in the night to pee, I resume the same dream when I go back to sleep. I did Chantix once before (addictive personality anyone?) and it caused technicolor NIGHTMARES then, soooo, if it's only weird dreams this time I guess I can handle that. Still, I've never been one to enjoy remembering my dreams, guess I'm SOL 'til I can get off the Chantix. I'm going to take it at least the full month, then maybe just in the mornings and see how that goes.
I might come back later and add to this as the day goes on (if that's possible???). Thanks for listening.

as long as the technicolor dreams arn't nightmares and you're not going to wake up and kill yourself or others, I think it's a price to pay. Yu might look up meditation techniques and ways to control your dreams! I know it sounds a bit out there and maybe a little to weird for your taste, but it does work and you might really enjoy it! I've been doing it for years!!! Make those funky dreams work in your favor and you could be having a great nights sleep! Glad to see you're still on track! I'm a firm believer that all you need is one addiction to have an addictive personality. People sometimes lose track of just what they're addicted to, but realizing you have an addictive personality is key to control in your life. I've done many a thesis on this subject and could go on for hours! Best advice, 1 addiction at a time! So if coffee isn't feeding into your smoking habit, which I'm surprised it doesn't, then don't even think about resolving that issue now!!

Heheh, this old girl will probably NEVER give up her coffee. Gotta have one vice. "Hi, my name is Susan and I'm a compulsive overeater and sugar-binger". Yep, I've got an addictive personality. Low carb has been the ONLY thing to keep me from binge-eating. I drink an occasional beer and it doesn't bother me with the not smoking either. My worst times seem to be right after a meal, so that's when I hit the toothbrush, drink a glass of water and grab a piece of sugar-free chewing gum. I'm going to make it this time and THIS time I'm not going to start back (this is about the 10th time I've quit - really!).
I've GOT to start back to the gym (well, it's more like Curves, but it's open 24/7). I don't think I'll be eating any more than usual - thank God for LC, but I do know that smoking revs your metabolism a bit so I need to counteract the slight slow-down. I refuse to regain the 40+ lbs. This time I'm going to be one of the lucky ones who successfully loses and keeps the weight off. I've probably lost the same 40+ lbs 15-20 times or more in my lifetime. I want to be healthy, period. Thanks for stopping by. I'll shut up for now and come back tomorrow. Moo ![]() |
