Rise-N-Shine with Daily Devotion for Dieters

Posted 03-13-2008 at 08:12 AM by Figure26
How appropriate... I haven't used my Daily Devotion For Dieters in a couple of days, and when I opened it up this morning the scripture for this morning is Proverbs 1:33 -
"But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil."
Amen, Amen, and Amen!

The words to reflect on this verse read:
Jesus faced many terrible experiences in His lifetime. The Bible tells of many incidents where crowds of people sought to kill our Lord. Whenever the pressures got too great, Jesus withdrew and spent time in prayer. That is an important lesson for us to learn. There will be times when the pressures get too much for us to handle, we should turn to the Lord in prayer. He will comfort us, strengthen us, and give us the courage we need to face every new day.
Oh wow, I needed this following a very, very rough day yesterday.

Lord I rest in your strength. May I remind myself of all that You endured so that I may have eternal life. May I use Your life as an example of commitment and strength. May I always come back to this verse and this refrain to keep me on task. Amen

So by now you should know I'm a big mouth...the "talkative one" blah blah....before Jesus I was...and for him I am....a big mouth

but I am reading this book "Celebration of Discipline" by Foster and I thought I was ok with God...doing my best. After reading this book...it's revealed that I don't even come close! And in the prayer chapter he made that point that Jesus would pull away and spend time with God. And as I'm reading it...it just convicts me again...(2 or 3 confirms thing) and I struggle because I set time every morning to pray (like we're supposed to) and just spend time with Jesus...and I struggle with just waking up and wanting that to be the first thing I do....but I'm pressing on.....I need to be covered and have a conversation with him before I step outside into this crazy world...I know this...yet I still struggle...so when I read this....I have to reccommend this book...not at all an easy read but it's amazing...I have about 2 chapters left...I can mail it if anyone wants to read

Oh, I am going to get my copy!! It sounds like a wondeful, life changing read.

You know I try to do my devotionals every morning, but sometimes my children are up before I am... No excuse, but I think I am going try a new approach. I will either tell them that I must have 20 minutes to myself or include them. Although I gave my life to Christ in 15 years ago, I am reminded that I a still young in Christ. However, since moving to AZ, I do feel more like a toddler rather than an infant! Praise God! I've found a dynamic church home. Praise God

That is awesome!! I struggle in that area. We move every 3 1/2 to 4 years...We visit, but never actually feel like "home". Thank God you have found that.
