Still have metallic taste in my mouth

Posted 05-13-2008 at 02:35 PM by emslight
Weird how this came on a week ago, 4 weeks into this woe when to my knowledge I hadn't changed anything. Anyway... sort of like the taste as it's a constant reminder that I'm in ketosis.

Tired now after big swim and busy day. Heading to bed but have completed day 1 of a strict clean induction. I plan to do this for the next 2 weeks as I countdown to my holiday in Greece. No scales until that point either. Just clean sticking to the book and I'll see where it gets me.

London is just sunny sunny sunny

Hip hip hooray. Another beautiful sunny day and I don't have to go to work because I'm on maternity leave. Yeehah!

All is good but I had a slip up on Sat and cheated with ice cream and too much low carb chocolate. I don't know why or what provoked it... I think I'd lost count of my carbs because our internet was down so I wasn't using fitday and then I kind of got confused and it turned into a WTH kind of moment when my hubbie came in with ice cream (on a glorious hot sunny day). Next morning my tummy felt bloated, like I'd gained a load of weight (too scared to get on the scales...

Thank you to everyone for your help

I love this site. I posted a thread about my Dad's diabetes and have had the most overwhelming number of posts with support, advice and kind words. Words that have brought me to tears at times. I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been in touch. I've been able to pull together a much stronger evidence base for my Dad to convince him about low carb and have been able to draw on articles and suggest books for him to read. I just hope he can now take all of this and run with it because I don't want this to beat him.

Gonna help my Dad beat diabetes

Posted 05-07-2008 at 02:03 PM by emslight
My Dad has type II diabetes. He just got diagnosed. He is 60 years old, overweight, drinks far too much and doesn't exercise. He is, there's no denying it, an old man and it makes me sad as I remember him in my youth as so incredibly active and healthy.

I have been quite shaken by this news, although I am not surprised. For some time now I have been worried about his health. Especially since I have had children in the last few years. I worry that they won't get to enjoy him as a grandfather and that would be the most terrible shame as he is the most wonderful man and has...

Such a perfect day

Posted 05-06-2008 at 02:57 PM by emslight
Weather is hotting up in London which is making me smile. I've spent today outside in the garden with my girls and it's been just lovely. I'm hoping summer is finally here.

Of course, if it is, it makes me all the more determined to lose this weight. Nothing worse than the first day of summer to remind you how pale you and how tight last year's summer clothes now are.

I'm definitely someone who puts on weight over the winter and loses it over the summer (although I have been pregnant the last 2 winter's so I guess that doesn't really count.) I think I just...
