I'm back and I lost 6 pounds!

Posted 07-14-2008 at 11:54 AM by emslight
OK so I've been quiet a few weeks. I kind of fell off the plan. It crept up on me slowly - an alcoholic drink here, a bit of ice cream there, a bite of chocolate, a half an apple. Before I knew it I wasn't in ketosis, I wasn't counting carbs and I was 3 pounds up. Given that I'd only lost a grand total of 7 pounds this probably made me the biggest muppet in town. But... after a month's lapse I have pulled myself up, dusted myself down and reinducted last week with a clean, clean and new approach and a weight loss of... count them... 6 pounds! Feeling very pleased and spurred on to continue with induction this week. So what have I been doing:
  • Limiting cheese - before I made sure I had the full 3-4 oz and snacked on it. Now I'm using it in small amounts (I use really strong stuff) to flavour say an omelette or some cauliflower mash.
  • Not limiting veg - before I had too little. I got bunged up. I felt pain in my lower abdomen. I felt a bit rubbish too and I missed my veg. Now I'm getting a wide variety everyday and loving it - broccoli, cauli, green beans, spinach, peppers, mange tout, swiss chard, mushrooms. Bring it on!
  • Trying to only eat when I'm hungry and keeping out of the kitchen.
  • Trying to exercise. So far, I've just managed walking each day but as I'm gaining confidence it's time to up the ante and start running again.
  • Not bothering with the sweet treats even if they are induction friendly home made ones. I made these last time and I didn't do that well on the portion control so this time round it's just been fish, eggs, meat, fats and veg. Simple but delish.

I've also been buddying up with quizzical1 who has been a great support and sounding board so I don't feel like I'm this on my own like last time round.

Right then. Week 2 begins. Got my food shop in and have some great meals planned with lots of variety. Plus not too much temptation in the way of social events...
