Still in ketosis

Posted 05-21-2008 at 06:46 AM by emslight
I still have the metallic taste in my mouth and smelly pee so think I'm definitely in ketosis even though I've not tested with the sticks. As promised to myself, I've not weighed in yet. I've also been exercising more and in a week have been swimming 3 x, done a body conditioning class and did pilates this morning.

I'm planning to weigh myself in another week, although clothes feel the same and not loser so think I've not lost anything yet.

I've decided to stop using fitday, unless it's to look up the carb count on something. It was making me too obsessed with calories and I was ending up doing things like not eating, even if I felt hungry, because my calories were high for the day. This is exactly the reason why I stopped doing low fat diets! So now I'm only counting carbs, eating my meals and snacks and listening to my body and it's hunger. And boy do I feel freer! The result is, I'm not feeling as hungry or obsessing about food (= calories) as much. Am now thinking that I just wasn't in deep ketosis before, even though according to fitday my carbs were averaging at 20 per day. Still reckon I'll lose slowly but that is OK. People are complementing me on how I look and everyone is saying I look leaner, even though I've only lost a total of 7 pounds. So all is good.

I'm on the Dr.Bernstein diet, without the vitamins though. they give yoyu 2 serving of each category, including fruit. Is it possible to go into ketosis if you're eating 2 servings of fruit-only the ones they list, or do I have to cut it out completely? How long does ketosis usually take? and how many carbs should I be eating a day to get into ketosis? Links would be appreciated as well...Thanx
