The ups and downs of my LC Life...literally!

I don't know whether yesterday was a success or not. I had over 100 g of carb. I didn't really intend to have that many carbs, but one slice of bread led to 2. One serving of ice cream led to 2.
The food was:
L: 6 grilled wings with my hot sauce, 1/3 C of blue cheese dressing
D: 5 oz grilled steak, a little homemade mustard-based steak sauce, 1/3 C sauteed baby bella mushrooms, 1/2 C cauliflower faux-tatoes, 2 slices of bread with butter, 2 servings of chocolate ice cream, with a few chocolate chips and a drizzle of chocolate syrup.
I decided to enter it and see what it came up to be.
1980 calories; 133g fat/86g prot/105g carb
My weight this AM is 145.6, down 0.1 pounds from yesterday.
You know, I really am just plain crazy. I have a feeling I can eat a really REALLY pleasant diet at 136.5 pounds. Other than eating 2 servings of the things of which I really wanted to only eat one serving, it was a pretty darn pleasant day.
The victory in yesterday was that I actually *did* something I've heard you're supposed to do: take a reasonable portion of something, one at a time. Not sitting down with the entire half-gallon of ice cream and eating out of it--but spooning out 1/2 C into a small coffee cup. Not reaching into the chocolate chip bag and grabbing all I can hold, but counting out 10 chips and scattering them over the top. Not drowning it in chocolate syrup, but thinly drizzling it over it. The putting everything away and sitting down with my family to enjoy it.
I've never actually STUDIED what happens with my weight at any carb level higher than 20-30g per day.
I'm not saying my choices were good ones. I'm just trying to maintain my weight and try to lose this sense of deprivation I've been feeling. I don't know if it will work--I could fall face-first into carb-hell, all the books warn about dabbling in the carbs (PPLP-Hedonist does provide a LC plan that allows you to eat any carbs you want as long as you count them).
But I can say that the last few days I've been eating a lot fewer carbs each day than I was during the month of June. That has to count for something?

It does count for something. There are a lot of folks who can maintain on the level you are on. Since you don't have any thyroid or other issues I venture to say you might just be one of them
![]() I think you are on the right track actually. |

Ok, I'm here and can finally comment now that I've signed up! I kept the same username...nice to see Lynn and Liz have stopped by.
![]() Ok, Elle, I have to reassure you that things aren't as bad as you think. Maintenance is definitely a good sign, for one. And more importantly, I didn't have a chance to tell you how I've had major cravings and had to rethink my WOE bigtime in order to work WITH my needs as opposed to constantly struglging. The good news is, I'm eating more carbs but it's working! I'll try to e-mail you soon but I wanted to reassure you that you CAN change things up, especially if you are fighting how you used to do things and the battle is wearing you down. It's not healthy even if you feel like you're fighting for the right approach in concept, kwim? Don't be afraid to regroup and change up if you need to. Hang in there! <hugs> |

P.S. I forgot to mention also that PORTION CONTROL has been a big part of my allowances for more carbs. So you instinctively had the right idea there!
