It does count for something. There are a lot of folks who can maintain on the level you are on. Since you don't have any thyroid or other issues I venture to say you might just be one of them

I think you are on the right track actually.

LC - what's it all about?

Asperger's? Processing-speed. Easy-overload. Aghhh!

Was asked to describe Asperger's - and thought it might be a good idea to add that post to my growing BLOG, so here goes:
Quote:
With a late-life dx at 60, I am still learning about a life-long condition that involves processing speed that is often slower, occcasionally faster, than many NTs - NeuroTypicals, the average normal person, most of whom are impatient with Aspies who have "executive dysfunction" and who have a tough time making decisions fast enough for the average person who moves swiftly through daily decisions that put me into a stall much like when my colorful screen cursor simply spins and spins.... There are other traits, mostly involving security in doing things the same way day after day. One Australian has listed Aspie traits as positives, a way of seeing talents that are found in explorers and inventors (and social outcasts, martyrs) through history - and I like to read Tony Attwood's view of Aspie traits as I struggle to make the best of my own Aspie hardwiring. Attwood's list is a good one to draw from as an Aspie is writing a resume or a personal profile.
Some of the Aspie stuff works well for me as a LC'er who can easily eat the same menu day after day with no problem in finding the HB eggs a delight each time I gaze at an incredible edible egg and admire its beauty and all the nutrition contained in one "cell" with a golden nucleus and a pure white body encircling that precious nutritious yolk!

Lindt 85% just sucks -- it has a horrible burnt taste. More than you've eaten sugar, your taste buds have recovered. I buy Green & Black's Organic 70% in a bag at Wally World. The bag contains individually wrapped coins. I will eat 3 of them -- comes in at about 3.5g carbs and actually tastes good.

It sounds like maybe you need to start making yourself a lower carb dessert at night. Last time I looked those little shortcake dessert cup things they sell were around 18g of carbs, and make pretty good strawberry or peach shortcake. Or you might try KevinPa's pie crust recipe -- I like his zucchini pie.

My only other suggestion is completely rethink what you eat on maintenance. My maintenance diet looks a lot like Zone or South Beach. I'm not saying that is perfect or right for you, but you might want to think about other approaches.

Hey Liz, good to see you.

I can't find that chocolate anywhere around here, I've heard it mentioned before.

I'm pretty much following the PPLP hedonist approach...anything I want, count the carbs. I don't know if it will work, but 3 days now of 60-100 grams of carbs and my weight is unchanged.

I *was* thinking last night about the desserts, though, as I finished off my second serving of 1/2 C of chocolate ice cream. I could have a much *bigger* serving of a LC dessert within the carbs of what I'm eating now! Too bad I can't duplicate the ice cream. I haven't really tried it, but if I had some kind of mini-ice cream churn, I would try it. I remember you gave me a recipe once. The zip-loc ice cream is good, maybe I'll try that again.

I'm open to other approaches, as long as it doesn't involve eating less fat.

Elle

I feel the EXACT same way. I feel so together and calm after I overeat or eat a lot of carbs. I feel like I can do anything; I feel optomistic and positive.

And food couldn't possibly be a drug????? Yeah right!

I only wish that pigging on LC food would produce the same effect. Alas, for me, it doesn't!
