Low Carb-Revisited

Hello,

This is my first blog (ever).. never really knew the difference between a blog or a forum until now i guess.. Well my weight story is so complicated. Since I was a teen, I've been struggling to maintain a healthy weight and coming from an overweight family history, it has been hard for me. At 17, I was weighing around 125 lbs (I'm 5'1 by the way), which i thought was a good weight for someone like me. I left to college and gained weight, around 28 lbs during my first 2 years. At 20, I read about the Atkins diet and researched on its pros and cons. It seemed like an ideal diet for me and I decided to try it out. It was really easy following it and after a month, I could say I was loyal and careful with it. I could easily see rice and fries, and not crave it any more.. In 2-3 months, I was down to 118, my lowest weight ever!!.. Around the summer, I met my boyfriend and we started traveling together. I met his family and at this point, it started to get a little more difficuly staying on the diet. His father is an Italian Chef, an excellent one too and he always wanted to feed us. Little by little, I started regaining the weight back and not only that, but I would eat and overeat by a lot. Is like I was always hungry. In 2 years, I gained weight to 169!! I don't blame it much on the fact that I left lowcarbing, but my eating style and my portions were ridiculous. On the 11th, I decided that i had to stop gaining weight and reverse this, as I wanted to be healthy and feel good for myself as well. I've lost around 8-9 pounts in 2 weeks and I'm hoping to go down to at least 135, by april 25th. Usually, Mon-Fri are not as bad for me, because I'm at work, but Saturday gets a little complicated, since I go out with my bf and he always wants to treat me out. I'm trying to be strong and promise myself that eating healthy will pay out in the long run and will give me back the physical appearance I once had.

Welcome back to LC! I was in a similar position. I had dropped to my college days in weight my first go around. Carb cravings had vanished. However, going back to work added stress and my carb intake increased. The biggest issue was portions as well.

I restarted the LC diet 15 days ago, and have experienced a good drop in weight (which had been creeping up at approximately 10 lbs per year).

Weekends are my achilles heel. I have a well established routine during the week, the weekend results in my wife and I going out or perhaps going to eat with other family members. I am tempted and often times overdo it a little bit.

However, after 15 days my cravings have begun to subside and the weight progress I am now seeing is motivating! I wish you the best and look forward to subsequent posts!
