Aw Shin Splint!

Posted 02-11-2008 at 09:54 PM by Bethanyblondie
[COLOR="DimGray"]Well, I'm gonna have to hold off on running another 5k for now. I have a very tender right shin, which is the beginning of shin splints. Shin splints are, and I quote, "inflammation of the periostium of the tibia (sheath surrounding the bone). Traction forces occur from the muscles of the lower leg on the periostium causing shin pain and inflammation."

So I am going to do lower impact forms of cardio for now until my shin feels better. I did the eliptical and the stationary bike tonight, which was actually a nice change from the treadmill.

Hmmm

Posted 02-08-2008 at 11:25 PM by Bethanyblondie
[COLOR="Purple"]I have substituted the last two days in a row, as well as having my improv class last night, so I have been SO busy. I know for sure I have not had enough to eat in the last two days. Today all I have had are hot wings. I got them for lunch, and I literally ate like, four of them and I was full! So I saved the rest for dinner and finished them, but had no interest in eating anything else today.

I have gone running three times this week. Although since I subbed today, I waited to run until this evening, and I definitely could feel the hot wings and

Getting back on track

Posted 02-06-2008 at 10:43 PM by Bethanyblondie
[COLOR="MediumTurquoise"]After my two nights of Chipotle salad/carb goof ups, I have been extra strict today. I did get in a good amount of veggies with my lunch today, and have had a few sneak in from other little things, but overall I only had about ten to twelve net carbs today. I just made some parmesan coated chicken nuggets with homemade LC honey mustard to dip them in, and it was SO good! Makes me know that I can definitely stick to this WOE! I've been sort of obsessed the last few days with looking up low carb recipes to try! So far they are ALL wonderful!

Awww Man!

[COLOR="Purple"]I've had a Chipotle salad two nights in a row. It was so delicious that I had to have it again tonight. The salad dressing was so good...I had a bad feeling it might have sugar in it. So I finally looked it up...ELEVEN carbs! Dang it! I also had some guacamole...EIGHT carbs! Darn it! And their tomato salsa...SIX carbs. YARRRRRGH! I went so far over twenty carbs today I don't even want to think about it! I had already had eight carbs earlier today from my broccoli and cauliflower with my lunch.

However, there are ways to cut down on the carbs

Made it through a party the LC way

Posted 02-03-2008 at 01:53 PM by Bethanyblondie
[COLOR="Blue"]Yesterday my husband and I had to go his sister's engagement party. I had told him ahead of time that I was a little worried that there wouldn't be any LC food available while we were there. He said, "I'm sure we'll find something...it'll be fine."

Well, we get there, and the food is lasagna, spaghetti, garlic bread, and of course, cake. I mean there wasn't even any salad. It was a LCer's nightmare buffet. There was absolutely nothing we could, or wanted to, eat. Luckily, the party was at my husband's parent's house, so he had the liberty
