sunday morning coffee

Posted 01-31-2009 at 07:58 PM by aussie_kat
its sunday today, and for the first time in years i slept in till 11.30. Woke up and had scrambled eggs and a coffee for breakfast and came and visited the boards. It always makes me feel motivated coming on here. i lost a kg last week. this week will be a heap more salad and a lot more water. try to get a lil more weight off this week. We are off to sydney friday for a weekend together, dave will be coming home on sunday and i will be heading to ulladulla for a relaxing week with a friend. I really cant wait. just for the chance of a week doing nothing but walking on the beach, sipping water, and cooking delicious healthy dinners for her, her son and myself. it will be an experience though, the first time in 3 years when my husband and i will be seperated. i sorta wish he went away for work, then we would be more used to it, and he would enjoy being home with me more. we are getting lots better though.

life is just so unorganised lately. the house is always a mess, there is no routine, its just all crazy. Tomorrow i am staying home from work and going to try to get everything done. a chance to make the house a lil more normal before we head away. I keep on trying to do the flylady stuff, but keep crashing and burning. My comprehensive spreadsheets and stuff on my usb key are gone. my boss broke my usb key on friday..and i have been devastated. i didnt back any of it up so im feeling a bit out of sorts with all of it. i used to be sooo organised, a complete clean freak, who could do anything at a moments notice cos she was jsut so 'toghether' now i have so much issue getting off the lounge, making dinner, cleaning the house. but hey i never used to watch tv, and came home everyday and cleaned up. cleaned up after dinner each night, and did lil bits every morning after my run. grrr its so frustrating. i dont know how to get back 'there'.

Hi Mobycat,

You sounded really down and I just wanted to cheer you up!

I used to follow flylady avidly and also crashed and burned... was way too much pressure. Now I have a semi messy house but much more liveable than before. The only thing I really do every day now is make my bed (every day for three years now.. wahoo!) But I do know when the house is less messy I feel a bit more happy/in control!

So clean if you want to and it makes you feel better, but don't beat yourself up if you don't get it "just so"

My quick clean tricks I try to do regularly (but often don't)... pick up all towels clothes etc off bathroom floor after shower in am and chuck in nice-looking washing basket which lives in bathroom... put all things left on bathroom counter into baskets under counter (even if they aren't really away the bench looks clear!). Use flannel to wipe down bench and bowl.

set the dishwasher on the night before, empty at breakfast time and load again with brekkie dishes. Wipe benches so they are semi clear before leaving in the am.
If lounge is messy (I have two kids...) then gather up all from the floor and dump in relevant kid's bedroom...

that's about it!

sometimes when you feel down even doing one things feels like too much, but you will be surprised how happier you feel by not procrastinating and just getting on with one little thing!

Meanwhile, have an awesome time in Sydney, such a beautiful fun city!. Make sure you eat some dark chocolate EVERY day... it is great for lifting your mood!

aww Nicki, your so lovely. thanks Just one of those days i think. I got it and cleaned and I love your hints.
I have just done sort of the same, taken my hamper into the laundry so there are no dirty clothes in the bathroom, tried to clean down the kitchen table and swept and mopped our floors. its suprising how much of a difference it makes!
But thanks heaps, yep flylady is my friend, but sometimes just a lil to hard to get going

and yep some dark chocolate will definitely be on the agenda
