THREE BLIND MICE and other short stories

Posted 04-06-2008 at 11:26 AM by LibertyJen
By Agatha Christie

Ahhh.... nothing like reading one of the BEST authors ever. We recently rented TEN LITTLE INDIANS and I was left in the mood for some good ol' English mystery writing. Hard to find a tale spun better than Dame Christie!! And short stories are a great way to sense accomplishment by reading. Even though I had read most of these stories decades ago, her conclusions kept surprising me!

How to Cheat at Cleaning

Posted 04-06-2008 at 11:24 AM by LibertyJen
by Jeff Brendenberg

Time for a Non-Fiction pick ... and I couldn't resist the title! This is definitely written by my husband's twin brother: even has a final chapter on the ROOMBA, which Jeff bought for a Christmas present to me two years ago!!! Great common sense ideas and I finished it feeling empowered ... at least I am not the only Mom in America who struggles with cleaning her house!!! HA!

I've been a bad girl. but......

I'm back on track. Got my birthday and my Disney trip out of the way, so there shouldn't be any more obstacles. I've been under such stress for the last 2 months, I couldn't deal with everything. So the diet was on hold. OMG... I felt so awful--all bloated and headachy. After 5 days back on again, I've lost a couple of pounds and already feel better. I'm a stress eater, so I've got to rely on other ways to deal with it than food.

Rather than get discouraged by the total amount I want to lose, I think I'll focus on mini-goals--10 pound increments. Losing is such a struggle...

After a few rough days, I'm back on the horse! I never went nuts with carbs, just calories, cheese, and artificial sweetners! Yesterday was a good day. I went for a 30 minute walk. Today I am cleaning and doing school work. Here's my menu:

B: French Toast: 1 oopsie waffle (=1 egg, 1 oz cream cheese) w/ 1 egg, DaVincis, cinnamon, 1 tbsp butter; 1 cup cucumber, 1/2 loaf flax bread w/ 1 tsp peanut butter, 16 oz herbal tea w/ DaVincis, 16 oz water
L: chicken thigh and leg w/ skin, 1 oz cheese, 1 cup red cabbage
S: 12 oz herbal tea w/ 1 tsp fibersure and DaVincis, 1 oz...
