Atkins "New" Diet Revolution

Hello Everyone.
Not sure if this is the right spot but I couldn't find Atkins "New" Diet Revolution. I have been doing it for about 5 months now.
I've been reading lowcarbfriends for a few months and decided to join after losing almost 30 lbs. This site saved me so many times with all the great ideas...

This is a great site. No, there isn't a specific board for Atkins New Diet Revolution, but you'll find a lot of relevant posts on the Main Lobby, as well as other places.

Thanks Emily! I'm just learning how it all works. Hardest is trying to figure out all of the abbreviations.

You might request one of the mods to start a DANDR forum.
I know that a lot of people follow the guidelines in that book.
I am certainly more familiar with it than '72.

Yes.

There are a lot of abbreviations here, but you can always ask. I don't know if there's a thread that lists them.

I love vegetables so as I apply my 20g of carbs I use the reminder that:
4. VEGETABLES-Remember, the 20 grams of carbohydrates that you consume per day should mostly come from vegetables. You can have 3-4 cups of salad or 2 cups salad, 1 cup cooked vegetables per day using only the vegetables on the acceptable food list. This is very important. Eliminating the vegetables may shut down your metabolism and your weight loss will stall.

Also in my mind, I want to eat healthy for the rest of my life and this training me to do so.

We are on the same plan. And now I know I can have green beans

I do not do the net carb thing too much, I seem to really slow up my losses. Ex: sugar alcohols. Vegies like spinach and salad greens I do eat pretty freely. I like a big salad

This really is a healthy way of eating. We are unfortunately fighting the brain washing and marketing of the world. At least the French aren't afraid of a little fat. In my opinion Dr. Atkins has been ripped off by many diets. To my knowledge he was the first to even mention the glycemic index, now so many of them act as if they discovered it..... Oh well I'm sticking with Atkins, I just hope once in maintenace I can have fruit liberally.

Best Wishes

I think this is the best diet to retrain ourselves on how to eat properly. Atkins said that most people who start this diet were probably malnourished before and eating the wrong foods . This is why he added salads and vegetables in the 2002 book so that they could re-nourish themselves. To replace orange juice/vitamin C, I eat red peppers and mix them into eggs or with other vegetables. To replace bananas or potatoes I will eat avocado for potassium.
I am so glad you are on this diet too.

This is my basic plan, too.
I mostly stay under 20 net carbs a day.
My other personal rules are no alcohol, no nuts, no artificial sugars.
I have wavered a bit on the latter in the last few months, and my rate of loss slowed from my typical very slow rate. After recommitting to my own rules, I have finally dropped another pound since, my first since April 11. A bit of fruit snuck in, so I am off it for now. At some point I am hoping I can eat small quantities of seasonal fruit, but not now.

I am over 60, so very happy losing 25+ pounds since I started April 2013.
That's just under 2 pounds a month, and diminishing, but it has happened and no way I am changing what is working. I do tinker just a bit, but stick to small changes.

2lbs per month is great!! I've read that when we loose a little slower that it gives our skin time to adjust so that we don't end up with bat wings...

Yes, I am pretty pleased with my journey so far. Truth is, some days are harder than others, but that's life, eh? I am about 12-15 lbs from a good place for maintenance so even a pound a month will get me there in a year. I just have to do what I've been doing every day, including getting right back up if I slip. Right now I am feeling strong, long may it last!

Yea, three of us on Adkins "New" diet.. But, There has to be more us eating vegetables on this site.
Maxim, I don't count the net carbs either. Just the carbs.....
I guess I am still learning what foods have added sugar verses natural sugar. Although it doesn't really matter since all sugar is sugar, I am still trying to figure out how to keep it low. I know we have to stay under 20 grams carbs but what about the sugar. Seems to me it is better to get carbs without sugar if possible or the lowest amount of sugar anyway?

You mean your carb grams?
Somedays I probably come close, but I am also getting some carbs from eggs, cheese, avocados, olives, the rare piece of fruit and flax cracker, so my veggie count is usually closer to 12 - 15. I try to stay at 20 total, but somedays I am under and some days a bit over.

I should have said up to 20 grams carbs while eating vegetables.
Same with me I eat about 12-15 grams of carbs in vegetables.

Do you put heavy cream in your coffee? I just love it like that. Recently I've been started adding a tablespoon of coconut oil. It's supposed to help with weightless but I'm not sure it's helped at all.

I have switched to HWC in my coffee. I just down the coconut oil, I do not add it to my coffee.
I am wondering if anyone has a sausage brand that has fewer carbs than mine. 1 patty =2carbs anyone?
I have recently added tonilan and resveratrol to my supplements to see if it changes anything. I am getting a little more active now that I found a bug repeelant that works. Freakin gnats!rrrr
Also wondering if the way I eat would be considered IF to some degree?
I have been going back and fourth with the same 2#s for a week now, I hope it just TOM.

Those dang nuts. They are killer. But we only eat two meals a day (IF) and it's a long time between brekkie and din-din.

Rye baby,
I'm thinking that might be something I need to get rid of too...everybody says that they are the culprit. A small hand full turns into two hands full. I am not buying them anymore.
And those Atkins bars....19 g carbs...I don't care what the net carbs are. I haven't had one in two weeks now.

Maxi,
The 2g carbs in your sausage, does it show sugar grams too?

Sometimes I need something on plan that crunches, nuts fill this bill I don't over do because I fill a shot glass and then I am done. I also try to lower my intake and have that as a meal replacement. Not that it is working I haven't seen any loss for a while.

Has anyone ever heard of your body having a fat thermastat? Where your body gets stuck at weight close to what you have been in the past and it thinks your done, back to where you should be?

Patience, I think the sugar from fruit is much worse than just carbs from vegetables.
