Truvia's net carbs

I realize that with net carbs, the fiber count is deducted from the carb count, but why is it that when Truvia says one serving is three carbs that Atkins only says to count it as one when it has no fiber?

Yeah, that one's weird. I think it has to do with labeling regulations.
There's rubiana (which comes from stevia) and erythritol in truvia.

Rubiana is virtually zero cal/carb. Erythritol is a sugar alcohol and some say the calories are not absorbed. But some say 25% of its calories can be absorbed by some people. So I'd say if you subtract sugar alcohols from your net carbs, count it as 0 net, and if you do count sugar alcohols, count a serving (equivalent to 2 tsp sugar's sweetness) as a gram of carbs, just like all the other sweeteners.

For what it's worth, I think erythritol is one of the best sugar alcohols. I steer clear of malitol. But erythritol (and xylitol) are deemed as the best ones by a lot of lc gurus.

Thank you!

Thank you!

It's frustrating not knowing if I'm counting the carbs correctly when the scale isn't going down.

Usually it's not the one or two carbs in a non-nutritive sweetener that's the issue when the scale gets stuck. Look at your total food intake, exercise, water, protein choices, etc. One or two carbs from Stevia shouldn't make any difference.

Where are you in your weight loss? There are common "low wt loss" weeks when low carbing. Weeks 3 to 5 seem to be slow weeks for many people.
