What is 'stabilizer'?

There is 'stabilizer' in the ingredients of some chicken breast slices snack, what is it? Is it low carb/Atkins friendly? Does any one have any quick snack low carb suggestions? Thanks.

That would be a food additive... it's used to keep processed foods smooth or the consistency from changing. Whether or not it contains carbs depends on what was used. Unfortunately, if the ingredient list doesn't say, you don't know. How many carbs are there in the product? Chicken should have none. Sounds like your "snack" is a processed product. You'll always do better if you stick with whole foods... slice real chicken, in other words.

Quick snack ideas... boiled eggs, cheddar cheese cubes, roast beef or boiled ham roll ups, cucumber slices, anything on the list that you like, really.

I just noticed this in my HWC today! The ingredients listed: cream, stabilizer (glucose). Bah. In my case, it's a sugar. It might be in yours, too.

OMG!!! sugar added to hwc.........outrageous!
After reading your post I jumped up and went to the fridg.
I use walmart brand hwc (great value) and no, no glucose or
anything that resembles sugar.
Sorry to hear that, I'm sure there are other brands available to you
that don't have glucose added as a stabilizer
