Flax and Weight Gain?
I'm a little worried about working flax into my diet, because although the net carbs are very low, there are still a LOT of carbs in it. Has anyone experienced weight gain or a weight stall with flax?

Flax only has fiber in it the rest is fat. Flax is also good because it contains omega 3s. I use flaxmeal instead of bread crumbs for breading and it turns out great. Its also a great way to bump up the fat in the meat. Also you can use it in place of flour for some simple baking products.

I did eat a flaxseed porridge using 1/4 cup, mixed with an egg, water and spenda. I had it a couple days a week and did notice that it did cause me to stall. It was a great alternative to breakfast for me, but perhaps only have it once a week. It's been sitting in my refrig just waiting for me to have it.

I use flax daily.
I sprinkle about a tablespoon each on my breakfast and lunch. I actually did it for reasons of regularity, for which it is helpful, but I've grown to enjoy the taste and texture. It's a nutty sort of taste and it adds a little rough texture to the meal... I love it, and do not notice any weight issues with it at all. |
