Am I really THAT constipated?

Hey All! Newbie here, and I'm laughing at the title of my very first post. . So here is the quick low down. Started low carbing a week ago. Basically doing induction, though maybe only 99.9%. Anyway, my ratio's each day have been around 60% fat 35% protein and 5% carbs, give or take. Been drinking a crap ton of water too. I know I am constipated, its been like 4 days, ugh. However, would that equate to losing only a pound?? Started monday at 144 and this morning I am 143.2. What the heck?? Have really dug deep to stay on track through a busy and festive weekend, and to have on,y lost that much? Which leads me to my question, could I really be *that* constipated?? (taking fiber, eating lots of allowed veggies, etc) help!

It wasn't until I started adding in coconut oil to my diet that I started going to the bathroom everyday. I can tell when I miss a day. 2tbsp. per day should do the trick.

Give it time. Once this passes, you can see what you really weigh.

And yes, it can weigh more than you think.

The atkins book suggest adding sylium husk to your diet to help keep you regular, it comes in a powder and in pills but i hate the powder personally.

Psyllium powder....You can add it to smoothies, revolution rolls, soup/stews. Just make sure it's well mixed.
Of course, you can just down it in water....quickly.

The one minute muffins also contain a ton of fiber. I can sure tell when I've eaten one! And they're like a treat for breakfast.

Yes you really can be that constipated. You might be surprised at how much you weigh after. Definitely add some fiber. I struggled my first couple of weeks with this also. I actually added a natural suplement to help get things going and found it very helpful. I used Dr. Christopher's lower bowel formula. Good luck!

Yes, you can be that constipated. The first time I tried Atkins, I didn't "go" for 10 days and thought I was gonna die.

This is such an important topic, I have to share. I was really struggling with this over the past 2 months, and I was resorting to laxative use on the weekends -- which is the ONLY time I would "go", since I had class to go to and couldn't use them during the week. Seven days between movements is not only very uncomfortable and bloaty, but I believe it's dangerous as well, to have all of that food/waste just sitting in your intestines...

Anyway...I bought some Magnesium Citrate and started taking that last week. It has TRULY helped things become regular again. HOORAY! Magnesium citrate is supposed to be the more bio-available form of Magnesium (not sure if that is a word), and it is a bit more costly, but I was ready to do just about anything.

Good luck!

Oh thank God I found this post. I thought it was just me since my husband seems to be having no issues in that department. I will go today and get some MC. Thank you!

I discovered chia gel and am now I firm believer in it! Works awesome, and is SO good for you on many many levels. I take a spoonful or so each morning with a glass of water. All is well!

Oh, interesting! What kind of muffins? Could you share that with me? I'm always looking for good recipes, also one of my family members sometimes has trouble with constipation. I don't, I'm the opposite. I'm always looking for new recipes to help us continue to lose weight naturally through foods without OTC drugs, edemas, Epsom salts, anything chemical. Flax seeds work and I use them in smoothies, or you could try them with ground meat or scrambled eggs. I remembered using them in ground meat like meat loaf, I'm a flexitarian occasionally or you could say I'm a vegetarian now who occasionally eats poultry and rarely lean meats (holidays). Thx in advance.

Sorry, I'm not usually immature.

The topic at hand...... Yes, coconut oil. Fiber makes things worse for me.
