Am I on keto?
Not sure if this is the right section but I have been doing keto for 2 weeks and have yet to experience any negative side effects and am wondering if this is normal?
I'm actually not doing the diet for weightloss. My old room mate was on the diet and told me about all the benefits and how he felt so much more clear headed and energized. I was always feeling tired, so those things, coupled with curbed appetite (I might be thin but I EAT A LOT) and the fact that sugars and carbs were starting to make me feel like ****, uncomfortable legs, tingles, tired, I decided to give keto a try. Well its been two weeks with only one high carb day one week ago. Well, I feel great and full of energy! I am super happy with the way things are going. But anyway the one thing I'm not sure about is why I never experienced any of the transitional effects that I read everywhere I will experience. No tired/dizzyness/metallic taste/foggy head/bad breath/taste in mouth or anything? Is this possible? Maybe my body actually isn't in ketosis for some reason? My carb intake is really low. Some days I have a glass of milk or maybe a few grams otherwise here and there but it is still very low. I feel great so I don't know why I feel the need to ask, but it seems peculiar to me, even my room mate told me about the transitional period. One other thought is that under a year ago I was a regular amphetamine user and would go days upon days with nothing to eat. Maybe I've already been on keto and didn't know it, and my body is already an efficient fat burner? |

I've NEVER had "induction flu". Never.
The minute I start eating low-carb, I feel great and it never stops. The one "caveat" to that is that for the first few days on induction, I eat a LOT. I'm hungry, those few days, so I eat... lots of high-fat food to fight the hunger. Some of us DON'T feel the ill effects -- we just feel good. Others are miserable at first... and THEN feel good. Think of it like a hangover. Some people ALWAYS get them. Some people NEVER get them. (Um, that would also be me.) The folks who DO, well, you hear about it a lot. The ones who don't are quiet about it. (You don't talk about NOT having misery -- you take it for granted.) Sounds to me like you're one of the lucky ones and doing fine! |
