Another Sign ... This Seals it!
Okay, I ordered a refill of my BP prescription from Group Health online (love that about GH - you can do a lot of things online, including emailing your doctor, making appointments, etc., which is really convenient). Anyway, THEY called and said they would give me 1 refill (or 1 month ... not sure which, actually), but I would have to make an appointment before getting the rest. Of course I haven't been back to the doctor since May 2008! At first I was thinking DANG!
On further review, this is probably a godsend and something to help keep me on the straight and narrow. Guess it's time to order from Omaha Steaks (per my It's a Sign thread)! And I was once again thinking of doing the "I'll start tomorrow" routine, but not now! Time to get with it and get going in the right direction, especially since I've been seemingly out of control for the past 2 weeks. I'll be coming back more regularly, 'cause I think I'll need inspiration from your emails (not to mention recipes). ![]() New month - new start! Gail in WA |

Hey Gail! I had a similar experience last week when I was refilling my BP pills. I saw that I had 2 more refills left on it, which means I'd have to call my doctor after that, and <GASP> possibly have to set up an appointment, where she'd inevitably mention the fact that I should lose some weight!! Uggh, I do not want to have that awkward pitiful conversation again!
I remember when I was prescribed this medication about a year ago. It felt like such a defeat; I felt like such a loser! What is a 39 year old doing on BP meds? They're for OLD PEOPLE! (No offense, if you're older- it's just that my grandmother started taking BP meds when she was in her 70s. I shouldn't be on them just yet!) But I guess that was the point - my body IS the body of an old person because I'm aging it prematurely by being so overweight. Well, I was determined then and there to lose the weight and I was all fired up to get off those pills!............................................ .................................................. ..............................but................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ................................................. Right, you guess it: It just didn't happen. I had all kinds of motivation for a short time, and then I fell into my old habits again. So this time - AGAIN - I'm trying to get myself to take get going and get off these silly pills! I won't be a swimsuit model after just a couple of months of dieting, but if I could go back to the doctor and find that my blood pressure has gone down a significant amount, I'll be happy as a clam! And if I didn't need a refill on that prescription, even better! I hope we both get there!! Good Luck! ![]() |
