Where to begin?

I have been on the Candida diet and had terrible die off. I want to try the Atkins Diet minus the bread and cheese. I would like to know where to get started.

COngrats on getting control of your candida situation.

I think you should start with buying the book for about $7 brand new and read it as it will be the best investment in yourself you can make.

minus the bread and cheese? no bread on atkins induction and one never has to eat cheese on it neither.

Induction is were everybody starts and that is very low carb with the majority of your carbs coming from your 3 cups of legal veggies each day along with any healthy fats and proteins you consume.

While you are waiting for your DANDR to arrive Cheri has made a great what we need to know web page you can read here. NEWBIE WEBPAGE....come take a look!

I hope you find the information you need to get started, over on the Newbies Webpage. Good luck to you!

(Oops--sorry, just cross-posted with you. Hope the page is back up soon. Try the Atkins Nutritional Approach home page, maybe?)

I have finished day 4. No carb or sugar cravings. I have been slowly weening these out so I must have been doing something right:-) I am craving my nightly glass of wine. BUt it will pass. I have lost 2 pounds and a half inch! That rocks. Plus energy seems really high. I am staying up later and getting up earlier.

good for you. What are you doing as your exercise part of your Atkins?

I contacted Cheri and she said they saved a copy and the info will be located here now that geocities has gone kaput.

Hi everyone...I'm just finishing week one of induction...I was on Atkins years ago and followed for years until my hubby and I moved in together then things slowly went down the tubes diet wise...but I finally took a look at myself and didn't like what I saw so decided to go back on Atkins as it was being on that made me feel so good inside and outside...I've dropped 5lbs so far and that keeps me motivated...I crave something sweet once in a while any suggestions for something I can make that's LC?

good job on getting the aerobic part going. what are you doing as the resistance training?

snarlycat you will get lots of different advice about what to do with a wanting for sweets during induction every thing from make _______ to kill your sweet tooth and ignore the wanting.

You need to decide what kind of carboholic you are. Are you a got to comsume it all once I start no off switch for just one portion and put the remainder away? if you are one of us then kill the sweet tooth would be the way to go so you can become the smaller healtheir person you want to become. I know for me after a couple of weeks on induction veggies and proteins became to taste sweet to me so eating a red bell pepper was a candy break for me.

If you can do portion control checkout the recipe section of this board. Also in the induction section there is a stickie at the top of the forum called induction food porn and it has several recipes with pics of stuff you can legally make.

Thanks...I figure for the most part to just not have it anymore, in reality it's nothing great for me health wise just a tasty habit I suppose and it's a matter of getting over with it..rolling into week 2 now and still feeling pretty great so thanks for the input!
