It can definately be done. The first time I lost I did 120lbs in 9mths. Some months I lost more, some I lost less. I did it through less than 10carbs a day, and I know some will kick me in the rear for saying this, but I did not exercise one single day of it. But let me just say, that if you are not planning on eating LC for the rest of your life, it will all come back quicker than you took it off!

I agree with Brandy it will all come back plus more faster than ever!
I lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks doing Somersizing. I did walk about 3 times a week 2 miles each day. That was about it though for exercising. Then I went on vacation to Florida and ate ice cream and crosanwiches and whatever I wanted...Of course that was not the right thing to do. Dummy me! |

Tracey, it's good to have specific goals, but one thing I have learned is that no matter how much I want to lose X amount of weight by X time, ultimately I can't control it. I started in January with the thought that I hoped to get down to 140 by mid-June for my sister's wedding. That was a goal of 48 pounds in 6 months and I thought that should be totally achievable. Well, I only hit 140 a couple of weeks ago, so it took me a little over 9 months. At the time of my sister's wedding I was about 155, and it was the best I could have possibly done (I felt), so instead of being disappointed with my results I chose to be delighted that I was wearing a size 12 dress for the wedding.
I guess I'm just saying: go ahead and have your goal, but be prepared to be a little more flexible with your expectations if things aren't going as fast as you'd like! It's not a sprint to the finish line, it's a lifelong change you're hoping to make. ![]() |

Good advice. Nothing, NOTHING, is more disheartening than being married to a, 'I will lose XX pounds in XX days' type-of goal and then missing it. Will you look right past your success if you only lose 50lbs in six months? It's much safer to say, "I'll do my best to stay on plan during the next six months", or something else not tied so closely to numbers. All the best on whatever you decide.

Best of luck in your goal - it is attainable. I am new to the board, but been a low-carb person for years. Just don't get discouraged if it doesn't come off at the rate you want - everyone is different and loses weight at a different rate. As stated above (and I know from personal experience), if you go off the diet and back to your old ways, the weight will come back with a vengance. Along with your diet, make a lifestyle change and change your way of thinking - don't just be in diet mode. Train yourself to realize that you have changed your life - you are not the same old you - you have changed your life for the better.
