Is Atkins '72 informational enough?

Do I need to read both ANA and DANDR or is just the 72' book fine for getting all the Atkins information I need?

You can follow any of the versions/books. The main difference with '72, as I understand it, is you do not subtract fiber from overall carbs to get "net carbs". The other major difference is, I don't think '72 has the Carb Ladder in OWL.

Thanks thats what I wanted to know,
I just got the '72 version and cought on to the carb count, that NET hadn't been included in that year.
I flipped around for about 10 minutes looking for the ladder and got confused. Then wondered if I had the right book.
Sadly in the year ive been on Atkins I have not read the book.

If you want to do "net carbs" and follow OWL with the carb ladder, you can find a used paperback copy of DANDR 2002 or even '96 at any used bookstore...for cheap. Whatever book you choose, I recommend reading it carefully from cover to cover.

there are other changes between 72 and DANDR
there are 20 grams of carbs for induction in DANDR both the 2002 and the 92 but 72 doesn't have that high an amount just those carbs in the salads.
Frankenfoods hadn't been invented back then neither.

The sweetners have changed
cottage cheese is not induction legal any more in the 92 and 2002 but cream cheese is.
caffeine is out now

and OWL has become a much more strict reintroduction of foods in an asending glycemic index ranking while before it was add back that which you missed most.
Glad you are moving onward to OWL now. there is a topic here about how to do OWL using the DANDR 2002 book
