Did you try going to fitday dot com?
The very first thing you will see is what the site is all about: Free Diet & Weight Loss Journal Get your free online diet journal and start tracking your foods, exercises, weight loss, and goals. Join over 2 Million FitDay members using our site to take control of their diet and lose weight. * Completely Free * Track your Foods, Exercises, Weight and Goals * View your Calories, Nutrition, Weight Loss and more BTW, I prefer the calorie/activity tracker available through livestrong dot com (the old Daily Plate). FitDay has few commercial products. Daily Plate has many -- the only problem with the DP is that the data is user entered and there are tons of duplicate entries. Fitday's database is admittedly crap, but I enter nearly all my foods as Custom Foods and that way I have what I need. I only use the database for things like raw vegetables, when I can enter exact ounces, or standard things like olive oil or butter. Anything that has a label, I enter the info from the label. I also have had problems finding certain meat and fish entries, so I look them up elsewhere and then enter them as Custom Foods as well.
It may sound like a hassle, but once you get used to using it, it's quick and easy. |

enter your proteins as raw and you should find them. it is a hassle to search all the beef entries ofr your cut so just enter sirloin raw and it will give you the uncooked listings which will allow you to pick your trim.
on the livestrong member entered you have to trust that the member entered it correctly to the data base for the correct serving size too. |

I enter my meat raw unless the only entry I can find is for "ounces, cooked, dry heat" or something specific like that. Then I weigh my portion after being cooked in dry heat.
The important thing is to be consistent with the form you've chosen for measuring. If I am measuring my ground beef raw, and I am allowing myself a four ounce burger, it has to be weighed raw, not cooked! |

I have found certain specific fishes listed that way. Also, chicken thighs: boneless, skinless, cooked, ounces. To me that is more accurate than entering "small/medium/large thigh", because who knows what that means, exactly? I buy 'em boneless 'cause I don't like to pay for bones by weight.
It's no problem; like I said, you just have to make sure your weighing corresponds to raw or cooked depending upon how you enter it. |
